Due Date Club November 2003:pest control dilemma

Hey guys...I am just venting, so bear with me. Well, you would think that apartment managment will have an apartment ready for you BEFORE you move into it..but mine seems to want to exterminate our place after we moved in - tomorrow..
I called my hospital to see if I can be exposed to those gosh darn chemicals and they asked me to call the national pest control center who inturn asked me for an EPA registration # associated with the chemicals they are going to use tomorrow. I called my management office for the inof and they dont seem to have a clue about anything..how can they use chemicals without knowing anything about them. aargghhh.. so now, I dont know what to do..

I think I will end up wearing a halloween scary mask and scare those exterminators away from my place tomorrow..

Hi Avi

Sorry to hear about the pest problem. I hope you have got it sorted out. I guess staying away from home is a sure way to get you to rest and have everything served to you. Have fun with your feet up in front of the TV :)

Have you noticed that pregnancy sure attracts things which are not too ideal - Like the place where I stay - they decided to do a paint job when I was in my 6th month. And I too had a pest problem in my house this month.

And I seem to notice more smokers on the streets and more cars that emit a lot of pollutants! Hmmmm that's the heightened sense of awareness around us :)

Jaya

Hey jaya2 and Simmi...I managed to nag the management office and to get them to use a bait gel instead of an aerosol spray cause the pest control center told me that the gel is not harmful at all unless it is ingested... so the pest control saga ended better than I expected it to.. it was quite educational for me...I know more about the chemicals involved in household exterminations than before... :)

You are right Jaya, I seem to be so much more aware of all the pollutants around me than before.. Every where I go I see people smoking just like you.. The smog, exhaust fumes, traffic, everything seems to bother me now.. More than anything, I am worried about the effects on the little baby, so it must be part and parcel of being a mom... :)

Hi Avi. Sorry to hear about the pest control issue. Try and get the appointment for Friday so that you and hubby can go out over the weekend till the smell settles down a bit. I know it is frustrating they didn't do it sooner but still better to have it out of the way before babes arrives. All nice and clean place after that!
The hotel idea sounds great too.
Take care.

Hi Avi,

Sorry to hear about your situation. I would say not to allow those pesty people inside, you have every reason to do so. Talk to your local authority.

But, if you are still unable to stop them, think good that it is happenning before the baby arrives. Why don't you stay away when they come-in, may be go to a local library or somewhere. Of course you are always invited to Alameda.

Did you talk to your apartment manager about your situation?

Take care,
Vindhya

wish I could take off on a nice Vacation, that would be great...
Hawaii, never been there.. I can picture myself there right now.. :) lying on the beach, sipping some non-alcoholic pina coladas, eating some poo poo's.. Wow..

but hey, staying in a hotel(a couple of blocks away from my place) overnight and ordering room service doesn't seem like a bad idea
either.. :)

Avi,

I am glad you have calmed down, but if I were you I would still be mad at that insensitive manager.

Try calling the pest control company again tomorrow morning. Let's try our best to overcome this situation.

Staying away for two days sounds like a good idea. Hope it turns out be a mini vacation before your little bean arrives.

Good luck,
Vindhya

You are right Vindhya, I will have to get out of the house (stay out for a day if I have to) if I cant avoid having them spray all that crap all over my house..
I would visit Alameda if not for my having to be back here by 5 pm for my weekly child birth class.. :) so I will surely take you up on the invitation in due time... :)

All my manager had to say was "oh, we never had anyone experience any problems before, so you shouldn't have any problems"...I thought that was a really dumb comment to make in order to convince me..he must think I am stupid to take his word for it..the fool didn't even have the number for the company that takes care of the pest control services(I had to get it from the internet).

I called Orkin (the company who does the termination)and got all the information from them, and called the pest control center back and they are closed..they close at 4:30 and I called them at 4:32.. just my luck :)

Anyways... like u said, better to get it over with now rather than after the baby arrives..

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
