Hi! I have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes..and have made changes to my diet and increased exercise. As a result, my after meal readings have come down and are within the acceptable range but my Fasting(morning) reading is still in the range of 110-120( normal should be below 100).
Does anyone have any tips on bringing this reading down??????????
Please help..I desperately want to avoid insulin..am very worried.
Thanks!
Bhavna

Ya, I do understand the problem as I too hv a 2 yrs old daughter. My Dr gave me a week time but my readings were very high so I opted for insulins. Now I am in my 9th mth and got used to them almost. One thing I would like to mention is that, the night insulin has to be taken just before going to bed as our movements after insulin will give some pain.

Hi bhavna, as far as I know fasting readings r not in our control. Why r u so worried about the insulins ? Its not that hard. I take 3 per day. For the sake of baby atleast v hv to bear this. So don't get tensed up. If ur Dr suggests night insulin to control fasting sugar, just go for it.

goodluck

Thanks for your comforting reply, Vara.
I have an older 6 yr old and am usually very busy with her stuff...the thought of fitting shots not to mention the pain kind of overwhelmed me.
Did ur doc let u first work on a spl diet before prescribing insulin shots or went for them as a first response?
My doc does seem predisposed to meds ..so am kind of concerned. but I have tried the new diet for the last 1 week and all other readings except the fasting one came under control!
Thanks a lot!

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
