Due Date Club December 2005:To Eat or Not to Eat That Is The Question

Hey All,

Been hearing lots of different things frm a lot of people abt what to eat and what not to eat...

Keep feeling shud I eat this or not will it coz any harm. How abt if we pool all our resources and come up with a list of things along with reasons of what absolutely not to eat....tht might help
And the eternal question of wht do we do if we cant eat even a quarter of the diet that people say we shud have.. I cant seem to eat most of the stuff and then throw up whatever I eat.. (shud I feel guilty will it be bad for the child etc..)
My weight hasnt increased a bit in these last 2 months (neither has my blood pressure changed fr tht matter)

Heres my list of what NOT to eat

1. Papaya :- Grandmom used to say tht it causes miscarriages or abortions....
2. Brinjals/Aubergines :- Mother-IL says tht the seeds are too hot and hot stuff to be avoided...Also some people feel the child will be dark.
3. Almonds :- MIL again says they are hot but says can be eaten after 3-4 months if soaked in water.
4. Teas-Coffees :- not only for Caffeine but coz they create heat in the body as well.

Please feel free to add stuff...
Shweta

I read in one of the books that the salt used in chinese food ajinamoto is not good for pregnant women. So when you go to a chinese restaurant ask them not to use ajinamoto for your dish.

6. Brie & Feta:- And any other unpasturised cheeses..Paneer and cottage cheeses are fine. (does anybody know abt TOFU ?)

7. (not food related)...But she said to keep away frm cat litter and if u have to work in a garden wear gloves.. due to some disease ( i forgot the name begins with T)

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
