anu replied. i understand your concern. Because I have asthma and my husband does not have asthma. i used to pray to god that my children should not get it. My son is now 4 years old and he hs escaped. But my duaghter is 4 months old and i am still concerned whether she will get it. But even is she gets it iam not so worried because now there are wonderful medicines and you can lead a normal life as anyone. Like i had severe asthma attacks when i was a kid. WHen i was 14 years old i started using inhalers because before that inhalers were not mcuh prescribed in India and now i hardly ever get an attack. also people with asthma attack will have more endurance and strong mental make up. Encourage your kids to tke up a healthy lifestyle . so don't worry too much. i am confident that my kids can cope up if they get asthma.
Hetal replied. Hi, please note i talked about likeliness and not that it will happen ! how far the possibility is dpends on your child overall developments, and i also mentioned that its quite unexplained that in certain conditions some genes are suppressd and some are prominent,,whch is too early for you to think about it..
lets say in your case,if your genes were prominent, your child might not get it and if your husband genes were prominent,,then its likely that your child will have it !
about allergies that your baby is having,,since you will be visitng allergist,,you will come to know what is the cause,,as its expected that your dr might give your child allergy test and from that causes will be pretty much clear..
causes and factors of asthma are diff just as allergies,,so thinking about it and getting worried, just because there is a possibilty is like waiting for a distant volcano to errupt !! in that you will spoil your current plans ! so avoid that.
there are two types of asthma:allergic and non-allergic..genetics play a role in both these asthma dpnding on severity and exposure to irritants.consdering that ne of the parents genes of ne sickness are prominent,,as far as asthma is concerned,,,if only one parent has asthma,,then there are 1 in 3 child that will have asthma..and if both parents have asthma,,the chances are 7 in 10 !
home environment is more critical factor when it comes to allergic asthma,,,,
while non-allergic asthma is often triggerd by irritants and not allergens..most of the symtoms of allergic & non allergic asthma are same,,but in non-allergic asthma, symptoms are not caused by ne kind of allergic reaction like rashes etc..
if your child is having occasnal hives, runny nose, wheezng,or speedy breathing or noisy breathing,,difficulty in sucking or eating,,crying sounds softer and in low tone often after being hyperactive,,babies feels heavy to breathe,,ask to remove clothes, feels irrirated and points to chest,,,,thn there are chances that he might be having mild asthma...most common causes of asthma in children that are 5 years and younger,,is because of respiratory virus..and often breastfeeding often helps to prevent children from preventing eczema,,so if at you are bf,,continue it !
so my only 2 cents to you,,you are going to allergy dr,,provide your dr with the whole history of asthma or allergies,,child's overall behaviour, breathing patterns, responses to foods and possible allergy triggers if you know of it,,or ne other observations that you saw in your baby when he was having eczema...all this will help your dr to diagnse your baby without making neother mistake..
write it down, if thats wat it takes for you to explain it to your dr.
and let me add some comfort to you, that irrespective of family history, approx 50% of children with asthma outgrow asthma when they reach adolescence..as childs airways mature,,they are able to handle inflammation and irrtants in better manner and so their asthma symptoms may decrease or may vanish.and there is NO way, to predict that children with asthma parent WILL have ashtma,,
so even if you know the likeliness,,be on the positive part and practice good health and fresh surroundings,,so that you and your child can njoy more in that healthy environment !
take care, dont worry,,think less about asthma,,think about your child development right now,,,just keep an eye on it,,and at your visit to allergist...make it a point to share about this issue,,so that your dr might want to do ne other test if required !
and if it makes you feel better, what are my thoughts about it,thn my very best wishes and first prayers are for her good health,,now its upto god to listen to me !!
take care, okay.

RE: Eczema concern
Hello,
I had a similar query a few months ago concerning eczema occuring in toddlers. As far as I know, it can be due to a varrying number of factors and common foods that end up causing the condition in 1-2 year old toddlers.
In my research I found this article really helpful in addressing the problem:
