Due Date Club December 2005:Boy/Girl??

Hi all,
Hope everyones doing great.. Had one major doubt.. I have started shopping for my daughter but since last month if I tell anyone that I am having a girl they say \";lets hope its a girl\"; & then they start telling stories of how their friends here in US were told its a boy/girl & baby was actully born of the opposite gender & then they had to redo their whole nursery..I am in a fix now..But I have decided to but any new stuff of neutral color..But its still soo confusing.. Did you all ask your docs if they were 100 % ssure of the gender?? Mostly I think they just give 90 % GUARANTEE..have you all started shopping??
Best wishes
Meghana

Hi Meghana...
Though U/S are rarely wrong it is better to be cautious..A lady I know told me that she had 3 U/S and was told she is definitely having a boy..However imagine her surprise when she ended up with a daughter..are u painting the nursery?? dont make it too girly ...I myself dont know what I am having..Like Mihika's article said my baby was very naughty in the U/S and did not show His/her genitals...Dont get too nervous u can always return some stuff later (keep the tags on)...anyway just enjoy decorating ur nursery...also who says boys cant wear pink!!!
Take care..
Poulomi

Hi,

Cases of ultrasound results being incorrect are quite rare these days. What with technology being so advanced, Im sure what the sonologists say is almost true. Of course there are one odd cases where it may turn out to be a mistake. But by and large the results are pretty accurate. So I think there's not much need for worry.

Best,
Raji

Hi Meghana,

I just recd this article today from pregnancy(.)com. Just have a look at this. Anyway my doc has confirmed that its a baby boy and now as you said even i am a bit confused like what to do.

Question: Can you really find out a baby's sex with ultrasound? I've heard of mistakes being made...!

Answer: Starting at about 18 to 20 weeks, your practitioner or technician may be able to identify your baby's genitals during an ultrasound; however, your baby has to cooperate! She or he has to be in a position to allow visualization of the male or female parts. Even if the technician gets a good view of the baby's genital area, the image may not be clear and there are still no guarantees. We recommend leaving the tags on all the pink or blue baby gear you buy or receive until you see the real parts.

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
