Hi Archie,
I have posted here a few times before and need to ask you something,
We have been rtyinh for 4 mths now and also using ClearPlan fertility monitor for the past 2 mths, This last mth it detected my Ovulation on CD18 and CD19 and I also had EWCM, high BBT after that. I went for my progestrone test on CD 26 and it was 16.5 which the doc said was good. So I thought that If I don't conceive I should get my period by atleast CD19 + 16 days which is CD35.
I got my period yestreday on CD39......so pissed off and tired of all this. Can u provide some light to this
Can the luteal phase be greater than 16 days or did the monitor detect my ovulation dates wrong??how long after ovulaion does progestrone go up. I will schedule an appt with my doc this week....just was wondering if you could provide some light
very sad today

Subject:  Plausible explanation

Dear hopetobemom,
I usually do not prefer to put this plausible explanation but knowing some facts I would not mind presenting following explanation.
It may have been miscarriage, Had you tested on CD36 I could be confident about this. Sorry for the loss if that's what it was. I have been through same stage as you, that got period on CD35 than CD29 for the first ttc cycle. I did experience \";implantation bleeding\";, which is rare to experience, so knew that it was a pregnancy and did not take test until CD35 and just after a few hours of negative test I got periods. I think around a day before hpt I had lost it. When discussed with my OB she also said looked like miscarriage but no point in grieving on what you did not experience, I took that sentence seriously and gave a try.

My wise suggestion would be when you use OPK and follow guidelines you must add one more test that's hpt, the next day morning you missed period. This will help you confirming authenticity of OPK results.

The luteal phase is somewhat strict, unless under stress. Luteal phase classically stands for 15-16 days and if something affects this then that's stress. Work on your stress if that's what you horboring unknowingly.

Follow guidelines of OPK or fertility monitor and plan intercourse accordingly. Keep one fact in mind that you have only 20% chances to conceive at each round of ovulation under ideal conditions. Ideal conditions include male and female hormonal balance and no infections (even latent ones) and both partners are absolutely healthy.

Do not get upset, look at new cycle in positive manner.

Dear hopetobemom,
you are stressing more than necessary, that's all causing this.
Trying for 4 cycles is more than normal. You should not jump on analysis before trying for at least one year.
I am certain all is normal and all you need is to enjoy life without thinking of baby and you will be blessed without your knowledge.
Archie
P.S. Luteal phase without stress can't be longer than 15-16 days, that's my answer. I am not sure of OPK you are using.

You know archie....it is so nice to have you around when such crazy times happen....yeah this time I was certain I was pregnant.....had hight BBT's for a long tim, breast soreness etc. I will also talk to my doc about a pissible miscarriage....not sure though??
Now my question ofr you is this:
- Can the luteal phase ever be greater than 15-16 days. Stress, yes though not on the surface in the back of my mind...everyday after ovulation , this is all I think of...
- Could it be that the monitor was wrong and that I actually ovulated on CD 22-23. This monior is very ex and has good reviews so not sure
- This cycle we will get my husband's semen analysis also....
- Do you suggest any other test since I am getting very impatienet and would like to know if anything is wrong now rather than waiting 2 long
thanks soo much
