Hi moms

my 10 month old has a problem of cold with wheezing sound he doesn't have any symptoms like running nose and very mild cough. our doctor call him a happy wheezer but iam not becos almost every month we end up using nebulization with two types of medicines which i feel is not safe for the long run.
Can anyone please help me out with some effective home remedy or some ayurvedic medicine. i live in florida.

Dear all,

i dont know much about the medicines though, but my daughter uses homopathic medicines:
1. the moment i feel she is getting cold, i start with Aconite30. and if it still continues, i start with Belladonna30.

About some indian thought. my fiends say everyday after bath in wonters if you give your baby, Ajwain+sauf water. that is you take one teaspoon of ajwain and 1/4 teaspoon of sauf in one cup water and boil tilll the water reaches 2 teaspoon only. cool it down and give baby everyday after bath. I dont know i am yet to try it but my neighbour with 10 months old baby has tried and it worked for her.
again giving jaifal with honey also works ( tried and tested).
I am not sure how helpful these are to you, but thought will let you know things i know about cold from freinds around my place( delhi_)

Sorry. This is not to give you any solutions but just to say that I know what you are going through. I have a 3 yr old son who has been having the same problem from 10 months. It started from the time he got RSV as a baby. We have asthma in the family too. It irritated me when the doctor called him a happy wheezer. Except the summer he gets a cold every month. Since this is his first year of preschool his colds are non stop. The neb has become a part of my life.

What are the two medicines you use in the nebulizer? I use pulmicort and xopenex. I might start him on flovent and albuterol instead of the first two. But I'm not sure when. Has your son been prescribed Singulair? Doctors here seem to think it is the solution to everything. I have not given it to my son although he has been prescribed it.

I have tried homeopathy on and off. The problem is that the doctor is in India. I don't stay there long enough to do a follow up and adjustment of the medication. My homeo doctor says that the medications need to be adjusted over time based on his reaction to them. I have not been able to do that. There are many natural/homeo/ayurveda practioners who will insist that they can \" cure\" asthma. I'm skeptical about those claims. From what I've read, you can treat asthma in such a way that the frequency and severity of attacks are greatly reduced to almost nil. But you cannot take away the asthmatic tendency from the body. But I am no expert. Just been reading whatever possible.

Iam really sorry to hear that u are facing the same problem since ur son was a baby. yeah rite now iam using pulmicort and xoponex. sad part is nobody in my family has this problem nor on my husband's side.Iam also planning to start homeo/ayurvedic medicine....somebody suggested pankajakasthuri but i have my own doubts like whether i can use it for 10month old baby or not.

hopefully somebody will come to our rescue and gives us some good remedy.
