Hi,

I have been washing my baby's clothes with Dreft since she was born. She is now 8 months old - when can I start washing her clothes in regular liquid detergent?

in my family history nobody has allergies. but my 16month old was having runny nose and watery eyes whenver i tried washing his clothes in our regular detergent.so i am still using dreft.i used oxyclean baby, my baby was fine with it but it is expensive.
my doc asked me if i can try using cheer(unscented) but i am sticking to dreft.i will probably try using it from next month.so i will also suggest you to ask your doc about it.
i am sorry mother i will have to disagree wid you. baby having allergies has nothing to do with family history.

Hetal, i am worried about my son.please advice on how i can reduce his allergies.he is sensitive to carpet, detergents, wool and sometimes certain clothes he gets rashes.it has become difficult for me to choose his clothes.
he takes almost 1-2 week to recover for any illness. is this recovery period normal for all babies ?
first he will develop rash, thn runny nose with watery eyes, cold and then cough. this has become routine past 6months.his health problems seems to be increasing. i am tired of his allergy episodes every month.
Hetal, please advice something for him. how can i prevent frequent colds and allergies.
please advice.

Dear Beena,

I read in some internet discussion groups about " All Free Clear" . It is a detergent which is free of dyes or perfumes. On the box it claims to be an allergen fighter since it works against dust mite residue and is beneficial for people who have allergies. But I don't know how exactly it does that. I have sensitive skin and so does my son. I have been using it for the last one month. My son's skin looks less dry and itchy.

Dreft was also good but it's a bit more expensive than All. Dreft has a mild perfume whereas All Free Clear does not have any. But please check with pediatrician before trying anything.
