Hi Everyone,

I experience terrible tail bone pain especially so when I get up after sitting for a long time. Just wondering if anyone else is having any such similiar pains.

Best,

Hi Dee and Sushmita,

Thanks a lot for ur inputs. It feels a lot better knowing Im not the only one feeling this pain. I certainly intend getting myself a nice cushion and also trying out all the exercises that Sushmita has listed.

Thanks,
Raji

Hi raji,
I'm also having the same problem. When I went to check up for 24 weeks appt with my gyn I told her. She simply told me to do some exercises (she gave me a book that has about backpain during pregnancy) and also walk regularly.
In that book they gave some exercises.
1. Pelvic tilt
2.Standing Pelvic tilt
3.Neck and back stretch
4.Leg lifts
5.Body bends
6.Tailor sit
7.Trunk turns
These r the exercises in that book
I think u can search for these in the net.
I'm not writing detail because even if I write it might be confusing so in some sites they might explain with figures right?
Safety tips while doing exercises:
1.Changing the positions slowly to keep from getting dizzy or falling
2. Breathing normally so u and your baby get enough oxygen.
3.Avoiding bouncy motions.
Hope this helps
good luck
susmitha

hi raji,

even ive been xperiencin this pain sometimes.for me it usually occurs when im sittin in a position for a long time.i dont know of any remedies but what i do is that i dont suddenly get up from the sitting position.instead i take a support of the chair handle or wall n then get up.

also i try keepin a cushion behind my back while sittin.its a big relief.

and if nothin works then i take tylenol tablets as recommended by my OB/GYN.

hope this helps.

take care

Yes I also have this kind of pain and it is a part of pregnancy aches and pains coz of the expanding pelvis.
I try certain home remidies my Mom recomended like having dry fruits everyday and the one for this one is Keerbeez(in Marathi) I have no idea what it is called in other languages. Also used as an ingredient for goondh laddoos(which is made after delivery for the new mother so that she can get her strenght back). You can also take edible gum with milk everyday. It gets stcky and does not dissolve in milk but it may help.
You can try them if you like and since these are home remidies it will take some time to see/feel the effectiveness. Although it might not dissappear totally.
Take care.

Hi Rohini,

Thanks for the tip. I will definitley get in touch with my mom and ask her to find out what Keerbeez is from our neighbours in Bombay. I am game to try any home remedy. The pain can be really unpleasant and all my colleagues why I screw up my face so much when I get up from my seat :).

I also heard from another friend that if not cared for properly the pain may continue for a long time in life. There are certain exercises which must be done post delivery to get rid of this pain, some yogasanas. If I find out will let you know.

Thanks,
Raji

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
