Problems in School:Pressure from School
2003-07-17
Name: Debu's Dad

My 3 year son is in Nursery, I was expecting that this school will teach then in a slow and steady manner, but its hardly 1 1/2 month, and there is a test in the school, in which they expect him to say A-Z, 1-10, Story telling \";Thirsty Crow\"; GK - father's, monther's, city, country name, etc. Is this how all Nursery schools work, or I was wrong at the first place.

Kids have amazing grasping power. When the teachers/parents make it interesting, they can learn lot of things. Dont worry too much and dont put pressure on the kid so that he would not lag behind. Things would be fine.

Dear Debu's Dad,
I think your child is in a class that is far advanced for a child his age. My little girl just finished Kindergarten and they weren't expecting all that at the very beginning, however, by the time year was up, she was expected to know simple math, reading, writing, memorizing and much more...
but when she was in the 3 year old preschool, they were just working on colors, shapes, and numbers 1-5.

If you really want to know if this is really necessary, you should set up a meeting; you and your wife should have a set of questions to ask the teachers and then, you may have a piece of mind, you may feel better after talking to them.

Take care!

We did had an discussion with the Head Miss and his Teacher, they mentioned not to worry and do not take things seriously, your kid will learn slowly. But they have not slowed down their pace of teaching, its the same. I don't want to force him to learn quickly, but if I'm quite he will lag behind in his class, which I don't want.
