I came to india for vacation.after comming here my 7 month old got very bad cough and cold.i brought infants tylenol and motrin from US.but dint help.so took her to doctor and she prescribed antibiotics.but still she has lots of flum.the real problem is both my inlaws are behind me asking me to give her 5 drops of brandy mixed with honey.the tell me brandy is good for cold.but i flatly refused honey and brandy.my hubby will come only after 2 months to take us back.so i just dont have any support.when i tell him by phone he tells me it should be safe because they are experienced and know everything.what should i do.is brandy and honey safe?.

nothing to worry about cold and cough first u cure cold by giving 3drops of brandy with ur milk mix together and feed the baby.in the nightbefore going to bed. and apply brandy and water mix together to form a lather and then apply to the whole body and feet too after bath. important below 1yr honey should not be given.reply me soon.

Well honey and brandy is not advisable coz honey shld not be given until the baby turns a yr. also brandy is not advisable for infants..NO WAY...

As far the doctors in melbourne advises us not to give HONEY to babies.

Whilst sleeping in the night or during day, rub children's vicks around ur baby's feet, and cover ur babys feet with socks. Also u could burn eucalyptus oil in the bedroom where ur baby is sleeping..that will east their chest congestion.

Whilst bathing, add few drops of axe oil or eucalyptus oil in the bathtub.

Hope this will help. but no way give alcohol or honey to ur child.

in north india,we offer brandy. but with honey i have never heard. brandy can be given 5 drops twice a day works good with cold. i am not sure of cough though.
please take your child to doctr.

why dont u check with the doc?

Thumb rule - for things about kids that are beyond my understanding or judging, i hv always referred to the doctor.

what will happen at max? a call will go waste, a visit will go waste or some money?

i hv heard about giving honey for cold, but check the amount/concentration with the doc.
about brandy .. well i havent heard for giving it to babies!

and never ever heard about mixing these together.

i was given brandy by my mother when it used to be v v cold - in dec/jan ... a few drops mixed in milk .. but i was atleast 8 years old at that time, not a baby.

mixing brandy and honey in this weather may be hot for the baby.

just check with the doc?
