Hi Avi,

How was your weekend? How was the hospital tour? Did you finally take the 3D U/S? If yes, hope you got a great video.

I went to Babies-r-us and am confused over car seats. Not sure what to buy. Is going for a travel system good? It comes with a stroller and an infant car seat.

I bought baby wipes and a sleeper wear for the baby, so happy to say that I officially started shopping! Hope you did too.

Hey guys, the labor according to my instructor needs items such as snacks for hubby, juice (or other drinks) for yourself (you can have popsicles if you want) socks, massagers, stop watch(to time your contractions) among other things..
The hospital bag would contain items you and your baby would need during your stay at the hospital - mainly clothes I guess and other baby stuff such as receiving blankets, knit caps, etc.. The hospital tour, if you are taking one, should give you more details about the hospital bag.. I will keep you updated...

I guess you accomodate everything into one bag, but my instructors suggestion was to keep em seperate for our own ease and comfort...

Hi Simmi,

Thanks for the wishes. Avi said that in her childbirth class, they mentioned about packing two bags.

In her own words....

I found out in my last class that we need to pack two bags - labor bag (for things you need during labor) and hospital bag (for you and your baby)...

Avi,

Do you have more information on this?

Hey Vindhya, glad to hear that you've started shopping...I did some research on travel systems and I think its best to go with them..instead of buying the car seat and stroller seperately.. Others on our and Oct board also suggested the same..
I did go to Oakland on Saturday after the 3D US, but the babiesRus in that area is no longer there.. :( so yeah, yet another weekend has gone by for me with no shopping done....

My weekend was otherwise great.....The U/S was wonderful. The little one seems to be extremely camera shy, just like his mom....He had both his fists across his face the whole time and refused to reveal his face... The technician tried quite by bit by poking my tummy and getting me to walk around but he would take em off for a few secs and then get back to hiding his face again.. :)
So the video and the pics are kinda blurry.. :)
I got to see him yawn a few times which was pretty cute.. but the best part was knowing that he is doing fine...and growing..thanks again Vindhya for giving us the info about this place...:)

My Sunday was hectic too...I did go to the fair but I couldn't walk too much or stand (my pelvic pain seems to be getting worse, and moreover I have to find a place to pee now every half hour :) ) so came back home and did a lot of packing.. :) Cant believe how much junk we accumulated over the past 5 years...

HOpe everything else is great with you.. How is your stomach ache?
you have a docs appointment this week dont you??? Keep us updated.. :)

Hey Simmi, I've been watching the video obsessively..even though I cant see his face...I cant help but watch it over and over.... :)
Like I was saying, the 3D sonography phenom was being talked about on TV over the weekend and they did mention that it was extremely expensive in the UK, costing over 400$ and like you said, being offered at very few places...I cant believe that a technique that is offered for free in Korea and for 2000 rupees in India is so expensive and rare in our respective countries......
Anyways......you will get to see him/her soon..and it will be a good surprise.. :)

Hi Avi. Lovely to hear that you saw your little eye dot and he was shy like his mommy! I'm sure he will give you brilliant poses when he is out in few weeks. You can have a laugh about it when he gets older, that look u were so shy inside the tum...he would appreciate though that you got a pic of him there!!
Shame I can't find anywhere local to get this 3D scan done, it costs a fortune here (£275 -£300)as it is not common but I would have spent the money but it is not available locally!!
Anyways, I sure can't wait for the suspence to end to find out boy or girl!
Enjoy watching the video until baby arrives!
Take care

Glad to hear that you will be attending the classes...it sure will be of great help, especially if you and your hubby are by yourselves..
Although what we are paying is half of what you are paying, my insurance doesn't pay for it either...

Too bad that your mom will not be able to make it and sorry about your mil's health.. but dont worry, even if you guys are by yourselves, it is very doable..
My hubby and I were prepared to take care of the baby by ourselves (we dont have any family and very few friends close by to us)incase my mom coulnd't make it but now looks like both my mom and dad will be here...by the end of next month..
And if you ever need any help, feel free to contact me... Since we live close by, it will be my pleasure to be of help... I am sure you have lots of friends to help you out, if needed too... :)

Moreover, even with my mom here...I think I will be one of those I-myself have to take care of all the babys needs kind of moms..... :)
So more than anything, like you said, it will be nice to have moms and mil's with us as moral support...

Looks like there are only two babiesRus stores, one in Union city and the other in Dublin.looks like the one in Hayward is no longer open either..Man, where are they when we need them... I would see babiesRus everywhere I go when I didn't need them...

I am sure the stomach ache has nothing to do with the baby..but we do worry dont we..
I was always very laid back about things but now I get worried about everything when it comes to the baby.. I guess pregnancy does that to us mommies :) Dont worry too much..

And yes, as you will learn in your classes - there are two bags to pack :)

Subject:  Childbirth class

Hi Avi,

Yes, my hospital is providing childbirth classes. It costs around 85$ and has been scheduled for Oct 18th. It's a morning to evening session. They asked me if I wanted to take three 2 1/2 hours classes or a full day one, I opted for the former. I have been motivated to take this class based on your feedback, thank you. I just found out that my insurance would not be paying. But, that's OK.

Regarding hospital tour, there's a tour every Thursday. So, I might go during the last week of this month. Hope you can give me some tips after yours.

About sonography on CNN- what a coincidence! Hmm, babies smile even before birth? I didn't know that. That is indeed cute. Your little bean pouting his lips, that must have been so cute to look at.

Is there a babies-R-Us in Hayward? I have been going to Union City all this while. Please let me know the address if you have.

Regarding moving, it's good that you are just handling the delicate tasks. Hope you have a smooth transition.

Two bags to pack? Sure is lot of work. I was still dealing with the fact that I had to pack a bag for the hospital and now two? Alright!

My mom is not coming, but my m-i-l might come. We need to send the papers by this week. Also, she's not feeling too good, hope she gets better soon. In this situation, I don't want to bother her too much. If she comes, I think she can help me get prepared mentally.

As for the stomach ache, I have no idea why it got started. I hope this is something unrelated to the baby. My fingers are crossed.

Vindhya, I am sure your baby will be just fine..Like they say, good things happen to good people... :) so you dont have anything to worry about..
and you will have a great time watching her on the U/S and all her cute little activities... I am so excited for you. I am sure she will give you some nice poses.

And like it did to me, it will surely give you the much needed peace of mind regarding the little one's health and well being for a while atleast :)

My doc didn't mention another US except for a small/quick one she said they will do in my 36th week to see what position the baby is in.

Like you, I think the little bean was kinda irritated about being woken up from his sleep too.. cause he did pout his lips when she was poking on my tummy and turn away completely (I watched it on the 2D screen), the techinician noticed the pouting of the lips too..and yeah the covering of his face with his fists was cute..He must have been like "go away people, I am trying to sleep here, leave me alone" :)

The 3D & 4D sonography was talked about a lot on CNN and fox news over the weekend (what a coincidence) and they did mention that babies in the womb exhibit emotions and feelings too (they showed a baby smiling-it was so cute)..

I am glad you are feeling better with the stomach ache...As long as it bearable and it does'nt affect the baby it should be ok for now.. I wonder why it started in the first place though..

I think there is a babies-r-us in Hayward, but Union City is not too far off and like you said once we have a list ready-it shouldn't be too bad..I was going through their website and the travel systems (and all other things) come with lots of reviews from other parents which I thought were quite helpful when deciding which one to get..

We will be moving next SAturday, to Pinole which is 10 miles to Berkeley.. I've been doing all the over-the-phone kinda tasks (change of address, ordering new services etc etc).. and have left all the heavy work for the hubby..the aches and pains are getting a bit overbearing so I dont think I will be able to do any heavy duty work. :) so just some light sorting and packing...

Our hospital tour on Saturday was cancelled.. so we have to do it the Saturday after next..

Did you figure out whether or not you can take the child birth prep classees and hospital tour????? I found out in my last class that we need to pack two bags - labor bag (for things you need during labor) and hospital bag (for you and your baby)... so these classes sure are informative :)
Will you have your mom or someone else who knows a bit about labor with you???

-Avi

Subject:  3D U/S - shy part sounds cho cuuute

Hi Avi,

Basically I am getting the U/S to see if the baby is fine and also since my doctor hasn't recommended one. It would be great to have some good shots, but what's the use of getting good shots or video when the baby is not fine. I am hoping everything will be fine on October 4th.

I am so happy to hear your little bean is fine. Hearing the shy part sounds cho cuuuuute. I think they get irritated by the sound and shy away from it. The fists across his face was even cuter. Regarding his yawning -I guess he was saying - Mommy, why all these U/Ss as I will be meeting you face to face in two months. Even blurry images are still worth it. Has your doctor recommended another Level-III U/S?

Avi, sorry to hear about your pelvic pain. I really hope you take as much rest as possible. Don't exert yourself.

Regarding my stomach ache, it's getting better. I had an appointment last Friday, but nothing significant. The doctor prescribed Maalox and said she will do more tests after delivery. So far, haven't had the pain as severe as it used to be. My next weekly appointment starts from Oct 3rd.

Regarding babies-R-Us, is there any other store nearer to your place apart from the Oakland one? There's one in Union City, but I guess it's a little far from your place. But, if you have a list of what to buy, then you can buy them all in one day.

Thanks for your feedback on travel systems. I think I'll go with one, but not sure which brand to buy.

Are you moving inside Albany itself? Leave all the packing and stuff to your hubby, don't bend too much.

Did you take the hospital tour?

Vindhya

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.
