Problems in School:PSBB Millennium Chennai Porur Issues
2009-06-11
Name: Hari Ganesan

Today my son was excited to join his new School PSBB Millennium @ porur, I was also so excited since the school is in service of Education for quiet so many years and i was one of the many who was in their early ages were very eager to join PSBB !!!!!!!!!

First thing i would appreciate is, school starts @ 7.30 AM which enable the parent, children and transport to escape from the Peak hour traffic jam in Porur junction which normally starts post 7.30 AM.

So, i escaped from Porur junction and i was nearing the PSBB millennium new campus and taken a left turn from the main road, not to my surprise the road was fully blocked with traffic. Like me so many parents have come to drop their kids. Road was so narrow for which we cannot blame the school authorities, however they could have closely worked with local authorities to fill in all bigger pits in the side of the road (it' s like riding in the terrain), if you miss that' s it you have stay back until evening to dig out your four wheeler from the pit, added to this you will be blocking the traffic.

I was successful in Maneuvering which was challenging to my driving skill and finally reached the school. Good to see lot of cars being parked in the school in terms of parents showing interest on the 1st day.

Either my kid or i am aware which section he belongs to, since the institution very experienced and matured in processes, i was expecting a notice board to know my sons class section but again a surprise there was no notice board, there was only one teacher who was helping everyone to know the students section. Thanks for her patience to handle the crowd.

So we climbed the stairs, we went to the section and again a surprise in the class, students of 2 classes are being combined in 1 class, reason being the construction is not yet over.

I understand these are all teething problem for an institution. Leave out the money they charge, however knowing the institutions credibility and experience this is not expected from PSBB.

Please consider this as constructive suggestion rather than taking in a negative sense.

I hope institution authorities understand this and learn this and expedite and hope necessary action will be taken

1) Transport regulation
2) Traffic regulation in the road
3) smooth 2 way traffic in the road by filling pits in the road
4) Fans in the classroom

Hi Hari,
Your concept is good but how many will accept the suggestion which you have stated. But even schools need to change their thinking, they must not be so commercial they have to think about the education of the children.

I would suggest not to chose PSBB Millinnium school. They charge you exorbitantly. They grab a Rs.30,000/- in the name of admission fee which is absolutly against government rules. If this school is able to violat a government rule so blatently, what moral can you expect them to teach to your ward. Once you paid a sum of Rs.30,000/- and got your kid admitted in this school, then you will have to pay what ever fee hike ( normally from Rs.1000/- to Rs.3,000/- per year) every year. They are looting their parents for nothing. Worst administration, worst co-ordination, worst transport fecility are their merits. Studywise also you can not compare this school with their other branches in KK nagar and Nungambakkam. Students in this school are not given proper coaching in extra curricular activities. Very few are selected for extra curricular activities and we dont know what is the selection criteria. The existing parents are frustrated after paying huge fees they dont get their due. This year the first set of students are going to write X std public exam. The real strenth of this school in studies may be known after the results.

I have my son admitted here and there is no going back. What we can do as parents is to take up issues and not give up till the school fixes things.

I also have an inside view on how the administration is handling things, and things look really hopeless. It is really shocking that the name of PSBB is being used to run the show but none of the values seem to be present.

Here are some of the issues:

1. Furniture
2. Unqualified Teachers
3. Qualified Teachers, but with bogus degrees.
4. Principal not willing to act directly with (3). I don´ t have the foggiest idea why she is letting it go on.
5. They have been recently recommended for ISO certification. But this was achieved with a lot of manipulation by the administration and fixing or records.

Thanks a lot for your wonderful information about the school' s condition, as I was planning to put my daughters into this famous school from next year (2010-11)from Mumbai. In Mumbai, we have plenty of good schools with good infrastructures, play grounds, which is very rare in Chennai, but educationwise Chennai is best. Now I am planning to take admission in Cambridge Board for my daughters.
