nice article and very motivating.....i need to loose 5 kgs weight....and i go for walk- 2 miles in the morning....can u tell me is that enought or i need to do some more excersice too,,,,,

fd, 5 kgs = 5*2.2= 11 lbs * 3500 = 38500 calories. You need to burn this many calories to lose 5 Kgs of weight.
By walking briskly 2 miles you will burn anywhere between 150 to 200 cal. And if you spread that out then it will easily take years before you lose 5 KGS. What you need to do for you to reach your target is to include more cardio excersises. Like instead of walking, try running for 2 miles, take stairs instead of elevators, try skipping at home etc..anything that gets your heart going is good for you.
And another way to effectively reduce weight is to reduce your portion sizes in what you eat everyday. If you eat 3 idlis for breakfast, eat only 2. Instead of full fat milk, switch to 2 , if you eat rice 2 times a day then eat only once. Small changes where you don´ t feel like you are depriving yourself of food, but yet effective in controlling your diet.
Also remember that if you begin to starve yourself to lose weight, then you metabolism slows down going into the famine mode where your body thinks that there is going to be no food available anymore and hence conserving whatever you eat. Slow metabolism means slower weight loss and once you start to eat normally again, you tend to keep on the pounds for punishing your body earlier. So, its very imp to keep your body replenished of all nutrients. Eat healthy and eat often and eat smaller meals. Keep your body happy and it will keep you happy in return. Stay fit and healthy.
