Hi
My 10 month old baby is having cold, and i am wondering how to clear his blocked nose, i am not at all easy with bulb syringe. Any other way to clear the blocked nose. He is having disturbed sleep due to this.

I had the same problem with my little daughter. I used to suck her nose and clear it. I know it felt dirty first time, but when I saw her relief, it was pleasure to do so next time.

Shraman Hetal replied. infant saline drops/spray are great handy and safest to use. never apply before sleep,,its written on the pack of the nasal spray itself not to do so. its not safe that way...

just spray with your baby in upright position, a couple sprays in each side, and just after you do that, your baby will give a good sneeeze with mucus out,,or he will gulp the cough in this tummy which will eventually come out in his bowels....
a 10month old sneezes very well most of times with sprays..prob you might not need to use the bulb furtherr.
if you still feel the mucus is hard enough,spray abit more and allow it to get thin.its some couple seconds work.

also using warm mist humidifier or making your baby stand inside the closed bathroom with hot shower away from him(not under the hot showers), opens it well.its a natural way of humidifying air !

apply vicks babyrub before sleep on chest, on back of his chest and feet...and it works great on mild cold and most of times prevents stuffed nose in sleep.
also, keep your baby well hydrated,,the more water or juice he will drink, the earlier he will be able to get rid of mucus most of the times, thru bowels.

take him to dr, your dr might give him some cold medication or over the counter medicine like tylnol cold or ne other brand..
good luck Isha replied. Hi Indu, Heres a simple houslehold remedy for clogged nose and believe me it works. I do the same thing for me kido. Apply some pure ghee on your kids nostrils in a way that some would enter his/ her nose. In no time the ghee will melt and will also remove the clogg in the nose. There is saline water available in market/pharmacy. Before sleeping, you may put some drops in nostrils. And hen clean the nose. The blockage will either come out or it will go inside and comes through shit.
