I am new here,but i am continuesly reading indiaparenting since i was pregnent.
Now my baby is 3 week old. I have too much que in my mind. sometime my baby has gas problem, yesterday i gave her MYLICON and applied hind on her navel. Can anybody tell me what should i do so that my baby dont have gas prob at all. I am also worried about my diet also. I am alone here in usa and dont know what should i include in my diet which is health aswell not harmful for my baby. plz suggest me i am having too much tension now a days so plz solve my prob.

Mumma replied. I can give you one good clue which worked for me when my baby was of that age.
She was too having terrible gas prob. I am not sure if u r breastfeed or formula, but whatever you do, make sure you give your baby a very good birping takin him near your shoulder and lightly patting on his back. Until you hear him do good burp do that. Also even if u don't get the sound make sure you hold him in that position for some time 10mins after he's had his milk.
It will surely work, take it from me.
Hetal replied. eat healthy diet,if you are breastfeeding..now, about nursing moms diet..eat simplest food with least spices --thats the key..eat wholegrains, eat good and fresh, eat multigrains,eat our dal,roti, rice, curry(less oily, less spicy) with a shot of garlic sauted to pinkish beige in ghee tadka..add in herbs like parsley, coriander, oregano, ajma,dil seeds in your diet. drink plenty of water, eat mini meals than 2big meals a day,,eat every 4 hours, than lunch and dinner,,have a good glass of milk atleast once a day,,,or suit yourself with a serving of yogurt,,
eat foods that are fresh, cooked well or ripe,,eat alot of greens esp spinach,,make sure you throw in some shallots/onion,garlic tadka in it.
until baby is 3months,gas, colic,refluxes are pretty much common..your baby tummy wont be mature until 3months of her age..her body is still learning to deal with the things like digestion ! until now in your womb your baby was getting all ready made..now his body has to work to get all that nutrients,,so will take time right...
no worries,,mylicon can be given at every feed,,ask your dr about it though.
also, if on formula,changing formula brand,type might help,,talk to your dr.

Don't worry. As far as the gas problem, my daughter's doctor would say, that means she's growing fine. Her digestive system is functioning well. If possible, avoid gassy items to your diet namely broccoli, caulifloweretc. Have plenty of garlic. It's safe to use mylicon with every feeding. Take care.
