Problems in School:How to control an agressive child
2002-12-08
Name: Mita

the fact my son (2 yrs)is turning a bit aggressive is killing me. though he is a very sweet child, he constantly uses his hands and leg to retaliate if i ever shout at him for his mischiefs. i even tried to explain him in soft manner, but the next momment he is the same. please suggest me a effective remedy to tackle him in the best way. sometimes i feel the reason might be of our being working parents and his stay for 8 hours a day in the day care, even though i try to give him attention when i am at home.

Hi Mita,
This is general attitude as the kids do not get attention from the parents. They need attention. Even I a mother of 31/2 facing the acute problem of severe adamancy and rebelling. Need to caress a lot to such child and ignore the child, during tantrums. Incase if mother gets angry the child should be loved by father and viceversa. This really works in our case. Do this it will help a lot.

Hi Mita,

My son (3yrs) old does the same. I guess this is the story of all working parents. I have a strong feeling that children throw trantrums to attract attention, especially when they have both parents working. However, the best way to handle this is ignore what your kid is doing. Children tend to repeat what you don't want them to do and if it gets onto your nerves, tell him, you will not talk to him and show him (make faces )that you are unhappy and don't want to play with him. This worked for my child.
