Health Issues:Height problem

Name: Aprna

Hi,

We stay in USA and my daughter use to be 50th percentile in height till she was 3 years old then all of a sudden
she started to get less pecentile from the 4th birthday she is 5 years old now and she is 15th percentile. I asked the
doctor and the doctor says that as me and my husband are not tall our kids won't be tall.

Every one in my house and outside started commenting that she is short. I feel very bad. My daughter does not eat
in the school so I give her a egg every day So that she gets some protein and also a make her do some exercise like
hanging holding a rod for couple of minutes. Please let me know does these help my kid to grow and if any thing else
makes her grow in the height please let me know.

Thank you so much,
Aparna

ask hetal in parents of babies board.

i read somewhere that height and weight are hereditary and has nothing to do with diet.

But, hetal is better person to ask.

Please dont worry about your childs growth.Percentile charts in USA are made according to growth of babies in USA.usually americans, african americans are genitically taller and heavy built compared to indians.so we cannot completely rely on these charts.in ways your doctor is right,we all know our kids will be like us only.she will have the height that you and your husband has.you can surely give her the normal healthy diet and assist in her outdoor activities.dont worry about this.usually girls gain height when they are teeagers.take care.

RE:Consticipation for 4 years old
This is an old thread but one thing no-one said was that exercise is important for gut motility. All the green veg and pear juice will be limited in their effectiveness if the kid isn't very physically active (just walking more and driving less helps!)
Also, my usual comment - use a child-size glycerin suppository if he's gone for two or more days without doing a do.... - Suzanne [View Message]
