Sleeping:8 months baby doesnt sleep through the night

Hi,
I have a 8 months baby. he goes off to sleep by 8- 9 and gets up around 3/4 to take feed and then again around 6- 6:30. I am feeding him with bm as of now. His eating schedule is
8:00 - boiled apple or mashed veggies
10:30 - banana
12:30 - roti+dal+veggies and then bm
3:30 - another fruit
6:00 - khichdi/roti-veggies
8:00-9 - bm
He goes off to sleeps while taking feed in the night. During the day he sleeps twice for an hour or less(sometimes just 15 mins).
I am not sure if the routine is alright or should he be getting up for feeds in the night. Could someone please tell me if this is alright or should I change it to make sure he sleeps longer hours during the day and night.

Hetal replied. 8:00 - boiled apple or mashed veggies //// offer diluted fruit juice with 1-2fruit or newly introduced vegie mixed with iron fortified baby cereal or raagi.avoid offering formula mixed with cereal !
10:30 - banana///also offer other fruits.
12:30 - roti+dal+veggies and then bm.//// also add rice.
3:30 - another fruit ////offer fruit juice instead with some snacks.
6:00 - khichdi/roti-veggies /// no comments...
8:00-9 - bm /// no comments..

Reply -- ok, no comments,he shouldnot look tired after sleep,,if so, he is resting well.
routine is alright,at 8months, esp since he is breastfeeding baby,,he will wakeup 1-2times..all you can do is your bm seems to be giving him less fat thn before,,which explains his freq waking up...so you might want to look for adding formula,,talk to your dr about it...
if he has completed 8months, he is ready for fat/cheese and protein foods,,so introduce that,,and it should help...
check for 8months old schedules and you will get some good tips in there,,,
just take a quick look to them, and you will get tons of ideas !
good luck.
ps. megha, same with you,,,check on quantity of formula, your bm supply, amts of solids..and avoid offering fruits at night.
dont cut his 730 feed,,,,his sleeping time is early and waking time is okay,,which is diff of some 11hours,and in that its quite common for baby at 8months old to wakeup,,esp if he eats his dinner at 7 in noon,,,
make him have his dinner,,slowly shift his time to 8 and before sleep, which is at around 9,,offer him full feed of formula and let him suck bm,,and it should help..
before bm or formula feed,,giving a good soothing bath might help,,relax him,,babies often get overstimulated,,just the right age,,
he takes 3 naps of lil sleeps,,see if he takes 2 naps of bigger gaps,,see if you can workout something like that dpending on how he accepts new schedule.sometimes lack of sleep and overtiredness during day time makes them restless at night,,massage his legs,,he will like it.
instead of lap, try to hold him close to your chest and pat his back,,he will like it!
your baby is also ready for fat and proteins,,so plan his diet accordingly...
good luck !
Megha replied. hi,
i have got the same problem. same age.his schedule is as follows
8.30 breakfast(weetabix/fruit porridge/muesli)
9.00 4-5 oz milk then nap for 20 - 30 min
11.30 lunch khichdi with vegetables,a portion of fruit, some cheese + water
12.45 4-5 oz milk
1 - 2.30 nap time
3.00 some finger food,pieces of fruit,some cheese + water
5.00 5-6 oz milk then nap for 30 - 40 min
7.00 dinner (dal,rice,mix vegetables,sometimes fruit)
7.30 2-4 oz bottle(trying to cut this out and make him eat a bit more dinner)
8.45 BM then bed
he will get up 2 - 4 times in the night for feed. initially i thought that he was getting hungry. but now even after hving 3 solid meals, why is it still continuing? i tried offering him water in bottle, but he won't take. from the past 3-4 nights, i hv tried to put him to sleep again by rocking in my lap but as soon as i put him down he will start becoming restless and start crying.
and he can't be hungry, coz he will hardly feed for 2 minutes(max) then doze off as if iin very deep sleep..
i really want to get over this. please suggest some tried and tested solutions..

My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
