is it true that petroleum jelly makes the complexion dark?then why al the baby creams has petroleum jelly?I am using elecom for his rogh skin which has steroid too and my doctor said that with this steroid the baby comlexion will ne also fair?does steroid makes the complexion fair?is it true?pls help as i am not convince with the docor and staying in kuwait so not good medical facilities .what are the disadvantages of steroid and benefits of teh same.

Hetal replied. avoid using any steroid ointments or medications for baby,,,its not needed at all not until your baby has shown chronic skin disease... ! please remember that if steroids were so effective, all babies dr would ahve recommended it ! and all babies would have been fair by now ! but they dont...it is true that depending on cases it might help to increase pigmentation in skin cells but and but,babies dont need that !!!!!! please avoid that.
how old is your baby ? use 100% petroleum jelly that has nothing but petroleum jelly,,its safe,,some cultures of us and other countries cant afford to pay for johnson and johnson and they have been using it for their babies.. thats y most of the baby cremems has it and it prevents skin dryness to the best and also controls dryness !!!
also, to add, all cremes contain diff concentration of petroleum jelly,,if you notice,,some will have les or more depending on what all other ingrediants are used for the creme...also notice that when it comes to babies, avoid and always avoid any product that has more than 3 ingrediants and its better to rely on products like johnson and johnson then to rely on complicated cremes which arent of standard brand !
vaseline is 100% pure petroleum jelly,,use that..
also ne creme used more than neccessary will always darken skin,be it ne,,or even pet jelly...
babies dont need much moiture just a lil touch,once after a bath,a mild application is enough,,if required, apply again, but mild !!!
