Eating Problems:Diet
2009-01-20
Name: Pooja R

My son is 8.5 months old. I started solids for him after he completed 6 months. I give him 4 meals a day at a gap of 3-4 hrs. and breast feed at night. Does this seem sufficient. His appetite does not seem to be too high, he barely takes 1/2 wati of whatever I offer him. What is the usual qty. kids of his age take? His wt. is proper and he is an otherwise active baby.

Dear Radha,
Thanks for your reply. Actually over the last one month I changed his diet and he is eating much better now. He does not eat rice at all now and so I have started chappaties for him. He is happier with that. He has been rejecting rice since the last 2 months in any form. Well thanks for your replies.

This is what my elder son' s doctor prescribed for his diet.

6.30am Milk
8.30am Raagi Semi soild / Fruits or Veg steamed/mashed/
10.30am Any fruit juice - nothing to avoid

12.30/1pm - dhal rice with mixed veg / curd rice with green leaves / wheat rava with dhal

4pm some snacks - cookies/1 dosa/rava upma/any other snacks which ur son is used to

6pm milk

8pm - dinner

bedtime - milk

This way instead of restricting the diet only to 4 solid meals of large quantity, give less quantity but frequent meals and try. this must work out
