Eating Problems:Badly Shouting to eat
2008-12-16
Name: Lakshman

My wife is bit aggressive. After 5 years fight with me she stopped, after hearing my daughter 4 and 1/2 years old, got sinus issues.

My daugther is lean and every one scolded my wife. My daughter takes always fruits very well but never take tiffin or meals. My wife is shouting like anything to make her to eat. Is that the right way?

I am sensitive, and i feel if daily she yells to make her to eat this leads to depression. Please pass on your thoughts and suggestions.

Hey Lakhsman,

Shouting and aggressiveness is only seen working in Rugby and war front...
all the kids are fussy eaters ..
my daughter made my life hell when it came abt \" eating\" .
Then one of the doctor told me that every individual on this earth feels thirsty and hungry...she told me to do a small exercise..leave the kid without making her eat forcefully...and watch what happens...it was a painful thing for a mother....but i did it...since morning she did not demand anything..but when it was 1.00 pm she started crying vigourously and then she ate a full katori dal, one chapati, and small cup of milk...

see if it works with u guys yaar...take care

Definitely not ! She shouldn' t be shouting or screaming at your daughter. All young children are fussy. My son is SO fussy, even when he' s hungry, he STILL won' t eat. We have to go through so much to somehow try and feed him. But, screaming and shouting will not solve the issue.

Depression is NOT the issue. But the fact is that even if your daughter gets scared and eats out of fear, it will lead to a hatred for food and eating, and in the long run, you will have MUCH more trouble trying to get her to eat. If she likes fruits, tell her she can eat fruits after having a little of her meal. As much as she wants. Don' t bother whether it' s 1 bite or 3 bites. Offer her normal food - Roti, Rice, Pulao, Veggies, Dahi, etc. After she has a few bits, let her eat her favourite fruits.
