Name: M
Hi. I am a Christian married to a Hindu. We are raising our child as a Hindu. We run our own company and my husband works 7 days a week.
I make it a point to take him to temples and once in a while to the church. We celebrate all festivals (Hindu & Christian) in the proper manner.
My query is... my son is quite young (18 months old). But, he is very influenced by what we do. At the time of Navratri, we performed Arti in the morning, lit a diya and prayed. My son really liked this. We want him to be religious (not ritualistic) but religious. Now, mornings are a very busy time for me. I have to prepare his breakfast, send the dogs for a walk (one by one) then keep their food and water ready, then send my husband off to work, feed my child breakfast, and wrap up everything by 9:30 so that I can keep a check on my employees (I do this over the internet from home). But, I log in to our chat session at 9:30 as they consult me on a number of queries during the course of the day.
Now, after Navratri, my son wants to light a diya and aggarbati every day, in the morning before my husband leaves. I don' t have the time to bathe so early in the morning. Is it wrong to light a diya and agarbatti without bathing ? Please let me know. In my religion, there is no such problem, but I don' t want to offend God by doing something wrong. Please let me know how I can go about this.
