Hi all

I heard a lot about ragi, went down to the store and bought some seeds. Soaked, roasted and grinded them already. Can someone jot down some ragi recipes for a 5 mth old when you get a chance?
Tks

karuna,
if you live in india you do get readymade ragi - maybe you could try it the next time - a brand that i know is Manna - add some water to a spoon of ragi bring it to boil - add some warm milk and some sugar - ghee as well if you've started your baby on that - bring it to a god consistency - this is as simple as it can get - chk with your baby's doc b4 starting her on it
cheers
usha

Hi Karuna - maybe ur son spat it out cos its a new taste - my daughter just makes faces and doesnt spit out (as of now!!) am planning to try another mixture that i got from south india called shaktiban (it has sago, millets, boiled rice and some nuts and no pulses) the paedeat thinks its a good cereal to for a six month old - if it does get exported there u cud probably try it
ruchu - in delhi u dont get this particular brand - try for manna (plain) or with fruits at any south indian store (ramakrishna in mayur vihar/ rama stores in muneerka are a couple u can try)
cheers

Thanks for your reply Usha

I live in US but we do get the ragi seeds and flour in the indian grocery store here.
I actually tried your recipe yesterday, I added sugar, haven't started ghee yet. He only had a spoon and started spitting it out, I think it's the new taste, he loves oatmeal, cereal with fruits etc though. But maybe I will persevere with the ragi, I heard a lot of good stuff about it.
Take Care
Karuna
