Feeding:1 year old not eating daals/khichri

Hi there,

My 1 year old daughter does not eat daals. I have been trying since she was 7 month old but she instantly vomits out any for of khichri or even plain yellow daal.
I have tried to keep the flowing consistency but she is not able to digest.
Other then that she is eating well.
But since Khichri/Daal is an important source of nutrition, what shall i do.
Due to non intake of khichri , she is not taking any veggies which are supposed to be put in khichri.
Please suggest me any variation of the daal or maybe a proper method to prepare daal. (although i doubt if there is any other way to prepare daal/khichri)
Is there any substitute for daal which fulfills her nutrition intake.

Please help !

Thanks in advance
Diya

I started adding freshly roasted n groundedcumin seeds to the khichri for an added flavour. Also add a little tomato haldi. Btw I have been asked by my pediac not to give any salt or sugar for one yr. So I don' t add them.

What is with this DAL obsession ?

It is an Indian psychological thing. Just forget it. If she doesn' t like it, just remove it from her diet. Give her other forms of protein.... non-veg and eggs if you are a meat eater, if you are vegetarian, then peas, green leafy veggies, nuts, yoghurt, milk are all excellent sources of protein.

And about other veggies, khichari is not the only way to serve veggies.

Make a nice veggie pulao.... either you can put some Veg / Chicken soup cubes and make a yummy pulao. After frying the onions, put a pinch of haldi, red chilly powder, coriander powder and jeera powder... or else, put some soup cubes or stock powder, fry for a bit, add chopped tomatoes, then put in a whole bunch of chopped veggies... potatoes, peas, cauliflower, carrots, pumpkin, whatever you want.... then add raw rice, and water and cook as usual. You can even boil veggies, puree and then give a simple ghee tadka and offer her.
