hi,

my daughter is now 10 months old and she is having cold with cough for the past one and half weeks which has not responded to any antibiotics yet. can any one suggest any home remedies pls. it all started with a fever.

i am worried as she has reduced her feeds now and is quite fussy.

i have had a lot of experience with cold. so u could try these few things. like starting medication at the very first symptom. that's no 1. then give the child steam for good 20-30 min. in the toilet or when the child is sleeping put the steam contained near her and be there to observe the child. do not leave it alone with the child. this will help immensely as this will open the airways and give comfort. don't take the child out during late evenings in chilly air. children who have lots of cold r delicate. then u could burn some garlic or some aijwain in sarson oil and rub that on the chest and neck and on the nose (just a little) - this works very well with my baby. and personally, i try homeopathy for my baby as she has gone thru this a lot and has had lots of cold and ear infections so antibiotics really kills hunger and off course the child's immune system will not be that strong. so, u can also try homeopathy. i personally feel this is much much better than those strong medciations that doctors give. and beleive me it is effective. if u need some more info post a message here and i'll send u some !! lots of luck. Ruchi replied. hi! even my son is 10 months old and keeps getting these bouts of cold cough. try giving her steam. another remedy i read on one of thses boards here- tie ajwain in a potli and heat on a hot iron or pan and put this on her chest. otherwise mix some vicks and ghee and apply on chest and back at night.

I have started homeopathic medicine instead of antibiotic, and it works!
