Mel replied. First, sit your daughter down in a high chair, or propped with pillows. She should be able to hold her head up by herself, and sit comfortably WITH support. Only feed her in a sitting position. Never feed lying down.
You can start with the ideal first food, which is rice cereal. Cerelac is good enough, or you can try farex or any other brand. Make a very small quantity first, and offer a tiny bit on the tip of a teaspoon. She may spit it out, which is fine. Offer her another try and then leave it. Offer her rice cereal twice a day, morning and evening. She may eat just one teaspoonful for a meal for about a week, but will slowly work to about 1 small katori. Check her motions, after some initial changes in motions, since you' re offering her solids, her stool should settle down, if it continues to be different (loose / watery / green / mucous / blood stained), then stop the cereal and consult her doc.
This is the same for all foods. Try a new food separately. Observe for a week, if there are no reactions, then she is not allergic to it. So, if you have successfully introduced rice cereal, and want to introduce bananas, then you can give her rice cereal AND bananas for one week. Then the second week, if you are introducing curd, you can give her cereal, bananas and curd.
You can give her curd made from pasteurised buffaloes milk. You can also give her boiled egg white, boiled and mashed veggies (pumpkin, carrot, peas, potatoes, beans, etc), fruits (boiled apple, boiled pear, melons, bananas, chikoos, etc). Introduce veggies first, and fruits a month later, since if they get used to fruits first, they may reject the less sweet vegetables. You can also introduce chicken soup (just the stock boiled with veggies).
You can introduce bits of roti, boiled and mashed chicken after completion of 8 months, and egg yolk after completion of 1 year.
About putting on weight, her weight is fine. Just ensure that she gains roughly 20 gms per day / 500 - 600 gms per month until the 6th month, and then 15 gms per day / 350 - 450 gms per month from the 6th to the 9th month.
