Feeding:Feeding Solid Foods for 8 month old - How much?

Hi All,

I' m new here and decided to post here since all the tricks that I tried with advice of the Pediatrians here didn' t work for my baby. Afterall, He' s Indian...ain' t he-)

I started solid foods for my baby when he was around 6 mnths. We started giving him rice cereal, a 2oz jar of fruit or vegetable twice a day with formula milk feedings upto 6oz in between ( he only drinks 3 times a day)

Rishi is now 8 months old and weighs about 20 lbs and is 30 inches long. My mother is helping me since i work and she is very reluctant to try indian food with Rishi since he is constipated with the food he is already eating now. His stools are sort of greenish & hard.

We give him bananas,peaches,pears,apples,
carrots, butternut squash, tomatoes, spinach, sweet potatoes, plain potatoes and rice cereal mixed with formula currently. He still takes 2 meals a day(B' fast & lunch). He drinks formula 4-6 oz 3 times/day.We are giving him 4oz of solid food from jars. My mom also wants to make food at home and give that to him.

My question is am i giving him too much or too little and how many times cna i feed him? What can i do to help him with his constipation? What indian foods can i start him on(mom has an idea but is just scared).

Sorry for the long email. But, i need help and asnwers.

Thanks to everyone
Triveni

gr8 going, but try to feed him homemade foods. They are much more healthier nd economical. I used to feed my daughter pureed fruits, veges, and mix a bit of rice cereal in them. Believe me , they taste better then the bottled ones.

Try homemade stewed apples, or apple juice. It helps with the constipation. Also raisins soaked in water/ or even home made grape juice.
