Mel replied. Start by offering her one teaspoon of a first food... like rice cereal. She may like it or not like it. Doesn' t matter. Give it to her just once. Do this same thing for a week, offer one to two teaspoons of rice cereal and see if she slowly starts having it. If she does, then give her about half a small bowl once a day. Once she is used to it, you can increase frequency to twice a day. Over a period of one month, increase to 3 times a day, but only a small amount, or as much as she wants to have. AND DON' T INSIST ON FINISHING THE BOWL.
After she takes this well, you can slowly try one new thing a week, but watch her stool. While you introduce solids you may notice ups and downs in stool, but anything serious (greening stool, very watery, etc) go to a doc and discontinue the last introduced food. Foods that are safe to introduce to an infant are:
moong dal, rice, rice cereal, boiled apples / pears, banana, egg white, boiled veggies like carrots, french beans, potatoes etc. Wheat (chapatis, egg yolk and non veg are to be introduced after completion of 8 months).
Yes, you have to give her supplements whether she is vegetarian or non vegetarian. She needs to get a good multi-vitamin and iron drops. My doc prescribed Visyneral drops and Orofer drops. Check with your doc and start supplemetation immediately.
Kavita replied. cogrates on completing to 6 months ur princesss, you can start with mashed banana or other fruits, celerac-1, boiled and mashed rice, curd or salty raita. But dont make it schedule. like offer her curd, banana or other semi solid food in day time not at eve or night.
Introduce food one-by-one. First few days give her one thing and observe that she is digesting that food properly or not.if its okay then try second thing.
