hi afreen,
As ur kid is just 6 month old...dont worry about semi solids...u can give her powdered oatmeal, apple puree, raagi which is very good, sujji kheer, rice cereals, and milk in btwn for every 2 to 3 hrs....but remember milk should be the main preference as u can go slowly with semi solids...until 1 yr u need not worry about solids...u can introduce to her small pieces of idlis, biscuits soaked in milk...etc...hope this helps

You can give her veggies in the night too. My doc gave me a basic handout which you can follow after 6 months of age.
Morning: Rice Cereal / Suji / Upma / Idli (3 - 6 tablespoons),
Mid morning - Milk,
Afternoon: Rice + Dal + Veggie. Puree and give her (3 - 6 tablespoons Or 1/2 to 1 small katori).
Evening: Milk and a little fruit (half an boiled apple, half a boiled pear, few grapes (skinned and pureed).
Dinner: Same as lunch. You can add a little chicken soup to the puree.

But, don' t offer chicken or meat until 8 months. Don' t offer wheat or chapatis till 8 months, You can give egg yolk, but egg white should only be given after age 1. And yes, if she likes rice cereal, you can give that to her for dinner. Just make sure it is iron fortified. And try and offer her other things as well. If she refuses, then offer her rice cereal.

About her being fussy, it' s the same with most of us. Only a lucky few have children who eat readily. But, don' t force her. Distract her and feed her, but if she is absolutely resistant after a few bites, let her go immediately. If on one particular day, she is not interested in eating at all, that' s ok too. Just give her milk or rice cereal after trying for a short while. But, whatever you do, don' t force her.

I wish you all the best, and remember, whatever you are doing, you are doing right.

Hi mel,

Thanx a lot for the information i will surely follow a diet plan like this for my baby. Yess ur rright forcing really doesnt help..i dont force her at all just try to divert her mind while i feed her. My daughter is 6.5 kgs now and has just completed 6 mnts. She was born 2.5kgs. My doc has also asked me to give her little formula say 5-6 oz in a day along with breast milk. Now thats the biggest task for me cozz i somehow manage to give her semisolids but offering her a bottle is just impossible she starts cryin the moment she takes the first sip of the formula. I tried a sippy cup to but didnt help. I dont kow if changing the formula will help i am giving her S26 gold which is hilhly recomended by my doctor. I am going crazzy with this. its almost a month that i am tryin to feed her with a bottle but she just refuses to accept it. Lets c what happens. Thanx a ton once again.

I presume since ur daughter is just 6 months old, u must have started with solids only recently. If that is the case, then be a little slow, don' t overburden her with so much of food.
Any cereal start by giving only 2 scoops(the scoops given with the packet)and maximum till 5 scoops(a much older kid).
Veg Puree..i hope u are not mixing all the vegetables and giving her. Give her one vegetable and then slowly combine other vegetables. I would say about 3-4 tablespoon of the vegetables(never give them as dinner). Fruits puree again u should start with one fruit and then slowly over the period of time combine. Here also 3-4 tablespoon would suffice.
Make it two solid meals a day initially. At this age milk is the major diet for infants....solids we introduce to help them develop taste and discover textures.
And yes its difficult to feed kids...any age:-) make sure u surely stop when the baby feels like throwing up and starts to gag.
thats it. go a little slow
take care
