My five month old daughter seems to have started hating formula milk. We have been giving her Lactogen 1 during the day time as I' ve to go to work, but off late she has stopped drinking milk from the bottle completely. The moment she sees the bottle she starts screaming.
I wonder what has got into my angel. Anyone else has been into such a situation. How to resolve it?

My son is now 10.5mths old and he also has stopped drinking milk from the bottle. The only time he takes it is in the night before sleeping. Earlier he used to have milk on waking but now he starts his day with chapati/ bread soaked in milk. He has good amounts of milk but mixed with food like daliya, suji kheer, nachni, oats etc... but I am concerned that he does not drink milk in the morning.
Am worried that he will start hating milk and not drink his daily glass as he grows up.
Let me know how I can start making him drink milk in morning. Can I start complan etc for him? Please do let me know.

Mel replied. I experienced the same problem. We started giving him formula milk at about 4 months. First he had it for a few days. Then he just rejected it. He is 17 months old now, and still hates it. Hates cow' s milk too. Until age 1, I used to give him milk substitutes in the day, and give him his night feeds (lactogen) since they usually drink milk in their sleep. So, try and get her to have one afternoon bottle of 4 - 5 oz. when she is taking her afternoon nap, one 6 - 7 oz bottle when she is down for the night. During the day offer her cheddar cheese (1 - 2 slices) and a bowl of yoghurt. My son used to eat cheese and yoghurt until the age of 1, quite willingly. But, take my advice (from my own experience) don' t force her. If she doesn' t like it, just keep it away from her when she' s awake. Keep offering it to her in a sippy cup or in her usual bottle. But, if she shows the slightest disinterest, immediately put the bottle away.
All the best. I used to be so frustrated, seeing other babies drinking formula so effortlessly and wonder why my son just hated the site of it. I tried everything including recipes with FM, flavours, milk shakes, etc, but the minute he would see it, or (if in a translucent bottle) he would get the smell.... that would be it.

Hi Suneeta. I understand your situation. We are all sailing in the same boat. I don´ t think it is advisable to give infants flavours like complan etc. Now, we get Junior Horlicks in the market, but that too, is recommended after age 2.
Don´ t worry about his daily glass when he grows up, because then you can add flavours of his choice.
You get syrups in the market. (Avoid chocolate as chocolate blocks the absorption of calcium and defeats the purpose of milk.) Instead try adding mapro strawberry syrup, tropicana mango pulp, etc. and give him. Don´ t worry. We can only hope things will get better with time.
