Feeding:moms in new york

Hi there, I have a 3 1/2 month old son and 4 year old daughter. I am a working mom in new york and would love to hear from moms in my neighborhood and all over the world to share the joys and tribulations of motherhood!!!
Also I was wondering if someone could give some feeding schedule ideas for my baby. It is so refreshing to hear from your own people in a foreign land, I had no idea what ragi was until I checked this website, i will definitely try this tonight.I was going crazy thinking how tiny my baby is, he is 12 pounds at 3 months, everyone I spoke to around here have 15/16 pounds babies at 2 months and I was worried he is not getting enough but I was happy to see so many moms like me with babies around the same weight at the same age, it is definitely soothing. My son is a very picky eater and I'm lucky if we can get him to drink 20-24 ozs of formula a day. He also started on rice cereal and I feed him some apple/orange juice.
Would love to hear from you soon. Take care
Karuna

Hi Karuna & others,
I have a 4 1/2 month old son.During his 4th month visit doctor told us to start the solids with rice cereal. And he also told us if we can delay the solids with the breast/formula feeding that would be good. He says chances of babies getting alergic to food items will be lesser then.In my case i waited for a while but my baby is waking up for feeding each hour and so I started rice cereal.I wanted to introduce raggi. I am waiting for a proper time.By the time he settles with rice cereal I may.
About weight donot worry much about the weights unless it is seriously underweight.Pediatrician told me they only expect a 2lb increase per month for the baby. How much is his birth weight. You know in India during the six months' checkup doctors check whether baby's weight is double than his birth weight.
About feeding schedules my pediatrician told me for the time being just give solids once in a day-that too in the night just before going to bed.In my son's case he still wakes up after four hours.I give him 3 tsps of rice cereal,Do i need to increase the amount? How much do you give?
I want to know how you're going to start raggi. Are you going to cook it with cow milk.
Thanks,
swetha

Hi jichi.

Yes my pediatrician told me to give him 2 oz or more of apple juice or diluted orange juice a day. Why? Don't you think it's advisable?

Hi Viji

You are so lucky to be able to stay at home and enjoy the baby. I wish I could have more time with my son too. But I try to make the best of it when I come home from work, but it's hard....
