Sleeping:Sleep

My daughter is 6 weeks old and hardly sleeps. In the daytime she sleeps after her massage (9.30 am- 12 pm)for about 3 hrs and then is awake all day, finally sleeping at 11 in the night. She gets up again at 2.30 am and 4.am for her feed. gets up at 6.30 am and is awake till 9 am . The worst thing is all the time she is awake, she insists that she is carried and cries when put down to her crib or left on her own. I have even tried lying down next to her, I haven't slept for more than 2hrs at a stretch since she was born. Can anyone help me?

Hey,Rini
I think we are saling in the same boat. My son is 5 weeks old and I am facing the same problem. Ever since he is born I haven't slept more than 2 hrs. continuously. The problem is I can't keep him crying and he doesn't want to stay alone in the crib and wants me to carry and cuddle all the time. So if you will get any solution on it please let me know.

Rini,
Hang in there...I totally understand your situation. I have a one yr old who used to do the same. The trick is to maintain your sanity :-) Sleep when the baby sleeps. It sounds silly but is doable. Right now she is really small and needs to be fed frequently at night so you'll have to go according to her schedule. Get a walkman and listen to music, switch lights off and watch TV. Why not enjoy it when you have to do it...Right !! Another thing my doc suggested which worked was that I would leave her in the crib and let her cry...i would stand outside the room initially just so to make sure that she does not choke or anything. Then in about a weeks time she gave up on crying.I would pick her up when she was not crying, play with her in the crib, make it interesting. Ever since she was 3 mths old she has been sleeping in her own crib. Trust me it gets better... just enjoy this time. Remember to enjoy whatever you do...make it enjoyable for yourself and the baby.

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
