Mine lil one is 8 months old, i am trying to get to this routine, but the issue is at aroung 8:30 - 9:00 he agian feels sleepy, and i try to make him not to sleep till 9:30- 9:45. And once he sleep at around 10 he again gets up after 1 hr. Please suggest what to do.

Hi Hetal,
Actually the reason that I couldnot give your the timeframes is that he doesn't stick to any time frame. May be as you said since I dint put him to a schedule. I used to feed/make him sleep according to his cues not on timings.

From last week onwards I am trying to schedule his day. Here are the details, let me know if this is okay.

8:30am - Waking Up
9:00am - Banana powder porridge (5Oz after preperation)
+ 5Oz of formula
11:00am - 1 Hr sleep
1:30pm - Rice + Dhal + MoongDal + 1/2 veggies + Ghee
2:00pm - 1 to 1.5 hrs of sleep
4:30pm - 7Oz Formula
5:00pm - 45 Mins Sleep
9:00pm - Mixed pulses and cereal
porridge(5Oz)
10:30pm - 7Oz formula and sleep
Buttttt he gets up at 4:30 - 5:00pm for feed, so
5:00am - 7Oz formula

N.B.
I give him fruits on somedays, but very little.Havent started juices/non veg.

I know you are really busy sending replies to all the queries. Reply only when u get time no hurry. Hope ur family n friends enjoyed Nirja's b'day to the fullest.

hi,
by watver you said, was it a one day thing that happened, then in that case, one day is not good enough for conclusion.
reduce his activity level after late afternoon,,,make him habituated to books, read and those kind of settling activities.or dont let him sleep in the evenings, if he still does, as soon as he sleeps, wake him up after 15mins-20mins(babies as 8months get fresh with 15-20mins nap), but with some distractions that dont scare him but makes him wakeup at ease.he will cry abit or get abit fussy in waking up,,but you have to make a schedule now..he will be 9months soon, and good sleeping habits should be cultivated, before they enter toddler years.

from your statements, i didnt get the timings i was looking for,,i cant calculate the timings like 1 hour and then 2 hours of play,,i havent been told about his waking time as well.so a matter of fact you have confused me with timings like 1 hour,2hours,instead of schedule of time from starting to ending of day.

also from whatever you said about waking at night for feeds, its clear he needs a nice dinner,,and plus before sleep 7-8oz of formula.
what are his timings(wat time, not no of hours but the timings like 430-530 etc.) of meals for whole day ! esp for the later part of the day.
without sufficient details i wont be able to help you by any means.

the person whom i told about not making her baby sleep by 6, was for whatever case she wrote and please note that its not in general.
so please not that its not necessary that i wil be helpful to everyone who reads it unless its the same case/ques/situation.all babies are different in every tiny thing they do !

Hi Hetal,
Sorry for the delay. He sleeps till 10:00 - 10:30am, but his night sleeping time varies. Then after getting up 1hr he plays eats...then again sleeps for 1 hr. then again 1 - 2 hrs of play and then again 1hr sleep and may be 1/2 hr more. basically he has 3 naps in the day. he is more active after 9:00pm, he plays by himself for long and doesnt need my company.
If he has the fourth nap at around 8 then he sleeps only by 1:00am or so.
When he was 7months old he stopped getting up in the night and was sleeping for 7-8 hrs at a stretch, but now again he started the habbit, gets up once or twice in the night for feed.
I do give him around 7Oz of milk before sleep.

Hope i havent confused u with the little masters timings :-)

My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
