my daughter is 6 months 11days old..i am just worried as she is unable to suck from a sipper, she chokes n pushes the cup away , may be the liquid flow is too much for her..n so i have to give her liquids with spoon which she spills a lot n makes mess..how do u moms make ur kids drink liquids at this age? can anyone suggest me specific brands of sipper which has few holes in the spout.? she has never taken a bottle till now..i just cant make her drink juices n water..pls guide me.. Mel replied. It' s ok. Give her water and juices from a bottle. Sometimes my 14 month old chokes on the sippy cup, so she' s too small. Give her water and juice in a bottle with a slow flow nipple. Water flows much faster than milk and babies can gag even when using a fast flow teat. mandeep replied. My own son never took sipper cup till nearly he was a year old. i try when he was about 7 months old n he was not keen on that so i just leave it, instead he use to drink from my glass or cup or normally i use to use his bottle for juice or water.i had the tommy tipy one (3 holes) n one was gifted buy health visitor with one hole in it it was a local one no brand name. give her time she is still to young to hold cup, let her take her time. by that time, till she is expert u can hold the cup for her n make sure water goes in her mouth slowly slowly n try cup which only has one hole to start.
