hi sandhya, sometimes baby do that.they are often day dreamers..soothe them, whenever they do that.and often babies cry like that until 3 months, with all legs and hands above their body. when you make her sleep, do tie her and make her sleep. she will cozy and warm. she'll like it too. its hot summer so use light cotton cloth to tie her.also maintain a good temperature in house.
still if she does that, then she is looking for you..so keep your bra pad, if you are breastfeeding or your handkerchief(tug it in your bra, and let it be there for 3-4 hours),,keep it below her head or above her head, in a way that it doesnt suffocate her. this way she will always feel your presence as moms smells is always around :)

the reason why some US drs recommend doing that, is baby often moves his hands and legs alot. sometimes some babies get tired because of that. acc to their age its a big work for them. and they are only on bm or formula which is even though good complete food for them,its does not provide everything. since we cannot start any other foods before 4-6 months,this is always going to happen, and we cannot stop it. babies often get leg pains or muscle pains, which makes them feel tired and fatigue.when you tie them together, they feel good. when your legs pains, try tying them or pressing them abit..its relaxing isnt it :)
just that way.. apart from that acc to indian customs its believed to straighten legs which in some case its true(they have been reported changes in the babys limbs,after tying) and in some babies they feel relaxed when open. my baby was summer baby, she never liked tying or even those wraps,she will cry if i tie her or wrap her with any cloth or readymade wraps. but when the winter started, she was some 3-4 months, and she waited for me to tie her :) it was something surprsiing i saw.
so it dpends alot on babys preferences,,they keep changing.

Himalaya bonnison gripe water. you get it here in US. or if its other type make sure its written on it, no alcohol,no coal,no sodium and has ayurvedic contents.

hey hetal, what is the exact name of gripe water. my inlaws are coming from india, i want to buy it. there are 2 types available in india :)

pri, now dont say that hetal - you mean tightly or tight enough. its understood that not tightly that baby legs get hurt.

o yeah, its understood when it comes to babies right ! u tie her or you wrap her, its upto you..
we use tie because after wrapping is done, with the left out corner of the cloth, you tie it around the legs tightly !!! the reason we do that, is to make their legs straight.
there are wraps available readymade in US.using them is easy, but at the same time the babies legs take time to straighten.

also about gripe water, himalaya gripe water is acceptable, doesnt have any traces of coal, or sodium or alcohol.you can get it in whole foods or some india store. its the only acceptable gripe water thats is declared safe by govt of canada and now in US, compared to other brands of gripe water of india.

I hope you meant wrap her around tight in a light cotton blanket or cloth and not tie her.
Sandhya: YOur daughter might have gassy problem.Usually they stretch their arms when they feel uncomfortable and get cramps in their tiny stomach.
My daughter use to do the same and I use to give her gripe water and that really did help. If you are in US, u can try gripe water but make sure don't get made in India as it contains some traces of I think coal not good.
