Hello there girls, I can't believe so many of you are from Singapore. I live in Singapore too and would love to get in touch with some of you. I'm a new Mom - Malaika is just 2 months old but quite a handful. I'd love some tips and experiences shared. Do keep in touch!

hi jasmine,

its natural that the babies sleep gets reduced during the day, since they sleep well during nights.
be happy if she is active. i feel may be malaika is bit alert sleeper. don't worry, better give her a very calm environment while she sleeps. make herself comfortable with her fingers holding on the crib bars or something like that, so that she feels secured.
i understand how you will feel when she is not sleeping.
i do have experienced with sashank the same, but recent days he is ok with sleep.
you should remember one thing, malaika. don't expect your baby to sleep like before, because each day she is exploring a lot and wants to be more active. thats always good because sleeping more will cause hypothyroidism in babies according to docs.
so be happy and enjoy with her.
i have absolutely no idea about the rattling sound in her chest. i feel sorry about it.
things will come to normal and all the best!

Hello Mathu, Thanks for your response. How is Sashank doing? I'm enjoying Malaika and love the way she already responds. However, she seems to have lost her sleep and doesnt want to sleep at all during the mornings. She naps for 10 minutes only in every 2-3 hours. It gets to be very frustrating becuase I cant get any work done and sbhe cries when left alone. Have you experienced this lack of sleep with Sashank? She sleeps well during the nights though and wakes up once or twice. She's also been having some rattling sound in her chest when she breathes and no medicine that the doctors have given have worked. Any suggestions? I look forward to hearing from you soon. Take care!

Mi doll seems to be a slow girl.... She is 5 1/2 months but she is just enjoying life pretty much laughing ,cooing, watching tv, eating & sleeping.... She doesnt want to sit on her own or anything..... she rolls over if in good mood..... but i ve got another busy toddler at home so i m not much anxious about this one i guess. let her be slow & steady....

I am very curious to know about ragi... Is there any other word for it? How does it appear? Is it something like sheera?

Mathura, i am also staying in Singapore, i have 8 1/2 months daughter.

At six months my daughter was sitting - pulling herself to standing position.
crusing/ moving around the house on her stomach. Now she started to crawl and balancing on feet with out any help- keeps few steps and falls. Very nice to see them going around the whole house.
Have u started giving u r daughter ragi.?? it is good for brain development !!

hi nikhi, sruthi and radha,

even my son is 5 1/2 mths old. he just started to crawl around the house and over excited abt it. thats ok, niki, let her be slow.
i give my son, sashank daily ragi in the morning.
maybe i will share more information abt it. it looks like mustard but brown in colour. it is called as "keepai" in tamil. at singapore, its available at mustafa shopping centre. the ragi powder is available in markets, but it might be fresh flour(without being fried), which is hard to digest and may upset baby's stomach. homemade ragi mix is better for babies. you can buy those seeds, soak it in water for overnight. next day, leave it in a cotton cloth and spread it. after it is not so wet, tie in a muslin cloth and allow it to sprout. After you see sprouts, leave it to dry well. Once u feel it is very dry, just fry in an empty pan. Later, grind it in mill.
wow, ragi has got an amazing role in brain development, also it wil help to gain weight. we all love to see our child plumpy, right.
at singapore, the rice mill is at serangoon road, opposite to verakaliamman temple. i am sure, its bit tedious, but ur work is worth. surely, your child will love to eat it.
all the best, moms.
i stay at hougang at singapore. i was working at hp and after i gave birth sashank i took a break now.
see u then...
bye --mathura
