Hi neelima gauri and other members,

Please refer to my introductory msG on 25/2/2008.

Now my daughter is 10-3/4 month and the situation is the same. She is a very fussy and poor eater. Last month i force fed her(SEMI SOLIDS) and atleast her weight increased from 7.2 to 7.6kgs but now she vomits whatever i give her(SHE IS TEETHING SINCE LAST WEEK AND REFUSING TO TAKE ANYTHING OTHER THAN BREAST MILK)....i am so tired and fed up...

SHALL I JUST GIVE HER BREAST MILK ONLY TILL ONE YEAR?

IS BREAST MILK ENOUGH FOR HER NOURISHMENT?

WILL SHE EAT SOLIDS AFTER ONE YEAR IF I JUST BREAST FEED HER NOW?

ALSO IT IS VERY HOT HERE AND SHE SWEATS , SO SHE JUST WANTS WATER SHE IS VERY FOND OF PLAIN WATER....SHE CAN HAVE 4-5 OZ WATER AT ONE GO. i HIDE THE SIPPY CUP CONTAINING WATER AS I FEEL TOO MUCH WATER IS NOT GOOD AS SHE IS HAVING BREAST MILK...SHE DOESNOT WANT TO HAVE JUICE OR SOUP ONLY WATER

I AM TOTALLY CONFUSED PLS ANSWER THE ABOVE QUERIES.

hi
you have clearly mentiones its hot out there at your place....its very natural that her body needs water..4-5 oz is absolutely normal....for your kind information water plays a very importanat role in the maintainence of body cells.....give her water whenver she demands as simple as that..now coming to your query i know many kids who were striclty on milk diet till 3 years but after they they have eaten all kinds of foods..dont you worry at all.....but one advice for you is one hour b4 you give her milk remove any water from her sight, or distract her with some biscuit....as far as wieght is concerned i' ll tell you at this momnet stop worrying about that.
also you asked me is breast milk only sufficinet...my view is it isnt...give her lactogen...her individual milk food should be 18o ml....like that at least 6 times in a day is required ie 180*6= 1080 ml is suggested....
also during teething its diificult to feed them...we cant help it just b patient...ok
bye all tyhe best

previously i use to get tensed, guilty, worried about this problem. now its like i am use to it. teething def affects appetite also heat.
as far as i know water is good my daughter we had to force her to have water. breasst feeding is not enuf after 6 motnhs but milk should be the imp part of diet till 1 year so go easy forcing part you can leave it for after 1 year

I am in the same situation as you are in.
My daughter is 9 months, she is only on breast feed. She refused bottle after 3 months (during this time she used to take bottle). I started weaning food and giving to her from 5th month onwards, she was very very resistant towards opening her mouth, and taking food down the throat.
I tried force feeding her it increased her weight but her resistance towards food also increased. It was really painful. After her first 4 teeth came she automatically allowed some feeding (selective). Now again she is teething so again she is showing resistance towards food, I have showed her to 8-9 doctors.

But it appears that after teething is over appetite increases and children accept some food according to tastes. As per doctors don' t try too hard but don' t give up, suddenly the child will start taking food.

Give some appetizers. Give homeopathic medicines and grape juice for teething duration. If child takes water you can add glucose etc.

I think this should help.

However if you get solution to your problem please keep me posted too bcoz I am in similiar situation and my daughter is kess than 7 kg, I am also very worried and concerned on this. I plan to continue breast feeding as much as possible.
