Hi,m very confused.can anyone tell me if it is imp to go for uterus tubercuosis test before going for hsg?my gynie told me to collect my period blood for uterus tb test before she does my hsg.but i took a second opinion and the other gynie says its nt imp.what shud i do?she even confused me more by saying that it shud nt necessarily be menstrual blood to check uterus tubercuosis.pls answer my questions.thank you so much in advance. usm replied. Go for Bactec...u have to take secreated blood...but in the other test which is called gamaferon... they take it from your arm & send to Mumbai...the test often gives false positive/ negative results. Coming to your question: If there is any TB germ in your Uterus or falopian tube(which is often the case in infertility), when the HSG liquid is forced into falopians via vagina & uterous....the liquid can spread the TB germs into other parts & your cavity as the liquid spills out of falopian. Hence you must get the test done...its called Bactec Culture of menstrual blood & they will give you three reports.Which place are you from.
