Problems in School:Dislike towards school
2007-09-03
Name: Jayanthi

My nephew is 6 yrs and in 1st std. He has started a little dislike to school and studies from this year (till last year he was fine). His class teacher scolds him and even beats him at times. She always give ' C' grade, even if his writting is correct, she finds some or the other mistake. He is very slow to write and does not complete the things given in class. When he reaches school he complains of stomach pain or uncomfortness. He doesnot like to write or study and makes excuses when he is asked to study at home, so even my sister starts scolding and beating him while teaching. His parents are separately and he has not seen his father except photo, can that be the reason or is it due to his teacher. Can anyone help me in this issue.

I think its the teacher and your sister !!

For a kid who have never seen his father .. that person is non existent .. so it will not make such a impact at this young age .

Coming to the teacher : beating kid is a strict NO ..NO in most of the schools ! then how are you letting this happen ??
You should talk to the principal and if they are not doing much .., Change his school ! Put him into a school which is very child friendly and there is not too much academic pressure.
First let him learn to enjoy school and slowly he will start showing interest towards studies.

Understand why is not focussed when ur sister is teaching .. what does he think or where does his mind wander ?
Is he eating well ?? does he play enough ??
Its a very slow and steady process to bring his interest back in studies ..
No yelling .. priase him over lil things he does .. Dont compare .. !!

Ask ur sister to meet some child counsellor who might help better.
