Is your child fed up with doing homework? Does he try to get out of completing his homework? What strategies have you devised to help your child cope with his assignments?

Subject:  homework is necessary

Homework is necessary for all children. How else are they going to learn their studies otherwise? I agree that children sometimes get a little extra but its not like that extra bit is going to kill them. If children stopped watching so much TV, I' m sure there would be no complaints about homework then. If homework is done properly by children, there is no need to go to tuitions. Homework is given to the children so that children can revise and remember what was taught in the school. It is necessary to revise whatever was taught through homework and parents should make children do homework so they do not become lazy and forget everything what was taught in school.

Subject:  our education system

I think our education system is to blame for the way children are harassed. The lessons are not relevant to anything that is currently happening and it is as good as a waste of time. Since most teachers are only concerned with finishing the portion, they give most of the lessons as homework. If children will not understand anything at school, how will they complete homework without understanding anything? This problem occurs as teachers in schools are lest bothered to find out whether each and every child has understood or not.

Subject:  too much homework

Children are fine with homework until they start getting too much of it. It is nonsense to keep the child in school from 7 to 1 and then send him home with assignments that take another 4 hours to complete. Plus, the child has to go for so many hours of tuitions. It is simply madness. If we get tired or working after working for long hours, why would not children get bored to do homework after coming back to school? They need some time to get refreshed otherwise how will they mange to study properly. Children should also be allowed to play for sometime instead of doing homework all the time.

RE:Reading Newspapers
How old is your kid as it depends on the age of the child and one cannot force a five year old to read the newspaper so if your child is above ten years then yes you should ask him or her to read the newspaper daily.... - Aditi [View Message]
