Feeding:feeding problem

Hi,
My daughter is 6 weeks old (premature baby ), she regurgitates milk after every other feed, If I put her down in bed she always throws up, so I keep her in my arms only most of the time (90) so that her head is raised. Doc has suggested Bonnison drops from Himalaya (5 drops 8 hourly for imp digestion),has any one tried this?
Also she takes feed after every 1-1.5 to 2hrs day and night, is this time gap normal?

hey nandini,

few months back, i was exactly in ur shoes. my daughter is a preterm and under weight baby. she used to spit up milk like any thing after feeding. i was so worried abt it as its my first baby. though my regular doc assured that its normal, i had shown her to 3 different docs and got all kinds of blood tests done worrying that she might have had some problem becoz of which she was vomiting. even u can find my query in this forum posted few months back. but later i realised that its normal to regurgitate for all babies, while few babies like ours do it more. there is some thing called spint near the esophegus which has to get strong for these vomitings to stop. and time is the only remedy for this. the older the baby gets, the better the situation wud become. now my daughter is 8 months old. still some times she does regurgitate, but the frequency has come down drastically. one the baby starts to roll over, the situation shud get better. anyways be patient till the baby is 5/6months old.

we' ll untill then what we can do is offer small frequent feeds to these babies so that chances of regurgitation lower. also burp the baby well, and place the head of the baby at a 45 degree inclination. still they wud anyway regurgitate, but we r trying to minimize it. thats it. also keep checking the weight gain regularly so that u wud know if the baby is getting enuf milk or not. i did try bonissan and also aristozyme digestive drops. u can use it till the baby is 5/6 months old, no harm. after that anyways the digestive system wud mature. hope this helps.

bye

hello nandini,

It is normal for infants to do this. Be sure baby burps. Need not hold in 90 for more time. Just have an eye that baby has nice sleep and regular susu, potty.

My self and my cousin had baby in a gap of 2 months. my daughter wont regurgitate milk at any time. But her son used to do always... imme after feed. she used to cry that he is not getting enough milk. But if u see both infants weight at their 3rd month. he is above my daughters weight.

I found many people in india use bonnison for infants. But my ped didnot advice me so i didnot use it.

Donot hurt urself with these small things. The time u enjoy with the little ones cannot be got back. take care of urself and ur little angel.
