Feeding:hungry at night

my 20 month old son has started waking up at night for milk. he has milk 3 times a day - morning, noon and night. feeds on solids very well too. still he wakes up at night and asks for milk. this has been happening for the past 2 weeks. i am assuming that he is not hving enough food in the day time. he is very active too. i give him his dinner by 6.30 and we all sleep by 9.30. before bed i give him milk. is there any solution to this? if i want to give him a small meal around 9 with milk, what can i give? i hv tried cornflakes, or rice and dal but sometimes he eats and sometimes he doesn' t. is there anything else i can do?
looking forward for ur suggestions.

He is having his dinner very early .. so he must be feeling hungry at night.. Give him a small snack at 6.30 and dinner a little late around 8.. they milk at 9.30 before bed.. He Should sleep well.
If you dont want to change his dinner time then try giving him a banana before milk at 9.30
