Hi all..my 14 mnths old son has not been sleeping well since a long time.initially i was attributing it to his cold n then his constpation.then i noticed his 7th teeth was coming so i thot that may b the reason. but none of this looks like the real reason. Before putting him to slp i give him n chnage his clothes etc. his not slping well is taking a toll on the family..and on him as well. he is becoming very irritable doent want any one to touch him...wants to do his own thing. he knows hoe to walk/run and wants to keep doing that all the time :)..are all kids of this age like this? pls share some suggestions for giving him a good sleep. thank you.

Dear aks

I have a 15 month old son and GOD!! does he ever get tired. Well he keeps on running all day long. The bed is his enemy u can say. Basically very high energy kid.

As an infant he had colic hence he had miserable nights. Then teething and all...anyways what i do is...firstly i never try to put him to sleep. He would never sleep if i keep trying again and again. I just leave him to his play and then when i feel that he is really tired i have a fixed routine(i guess this routine helps a lot for him to identify as to what he should be doing). I massage his legs and then brush his teeth, wash his hands, face etc, change his clothes(every single layer). apply little lotion with a drop of caladryl(i feel sometimes he scratches his body during sleep)and then give him milk...after this i make sure that me and my husband stay in bed with him(he sleeps with us only, no separate bed) now also i donot compel him to sleep...he plays for sometime(i donot let him get down fm the bed) and then he somehow falls asleep himself.
another thing i refrain from giving him anything new to eat at night. and keep a gap of 2 hrs between his dinner and night milk.
despite all this he does keep on tossing and turning and moving 360 degree at night.
i guess as they grow up they wuld learn to sleep and let us sleep also.
take care
chetana

Hi Aks

I am also in the same boat. If u remember i posted this ques for Hetal. But unfortunately no reply.
Eben I am not able to figure out whats the reason. My son will sleep nicely till 1-2am. But after that he will wake up every hour. I am exhausted completely. This is effecting his growth and also my health.
Please let me know if u find some reason/solution.
Thanks
MG
