Hi
I am 28 years old. we are trying for baby for an year now (not very constant effort because I was working)... I consulted a doctor nearby (later came to know that she is not gynecologist), she gave me and my husband few fertility medicines but nothing worked and then after a scan she suspects (she is not sure) that its PCO... I have my periods very regularly (exactly in 28 days), I was pregnant 7 years back but because I was too young we got abortion done... I am very confused... I dont know whats going on... Please help :-(

I took second opinion... this doc told me to do many tests (lh, fsh - fertility test), thyroid test and pre and post insulin test...everything is normal...have done a internal scan as well...even that is normal... tomorrow he is gonna do another internal scan...he is still sceptical of PCO...he is not sure...no symptoms... he has given me metformin to reduce weight...he says the delay could be just because i am overweight...

Hi, I can understand what you are going through. I too hav PCOS and have been going to a doc for a year now. Initially, alongwith the metformin what they do is monitor your cycle to check when you are ovulating and advise you to try during those days. They generally prescribe some drugs also to help the follicles grow. Pl keep me posted on your status.

Hi Neha

Finally the gynecologist has confirmed that I dont have PCOS, but my sis-in-law has it... she is taking metformin-SR for a month now and there is a lot of improvement in her...doc has told her to start trying again... please meet a good gynec before the problem gets worser....pcos are no big deal if treated properly with planned diet...ALL THE BEST...and keep me posted on your status

Hi Preeti,
Did they do an abdominal scan or transvaginal? Because, initially when they did abdominal scan, they couldnt find out much, but on taking transvaginal scan, they confirmed I am having PCO.
PCO has become very very common these days. I was intially given metformin for some months (we can continue to try and become pregnant during the course as well).
Later another doc gave Pioglitazone and said its like a big brother to Metformin. I am taking that for the past 4 months or so. But do not worry. Your doctor might measure your LH level on Day2 of your period. If it is normal, then no big issues. My sis got pregnant and delivered a healthy child inspite of having PCO.
All the very best!!
