Planning a Baby  Discussion Forum

Hi, We have been trying to have a baby sine June' 08. I had a biochemical prenancy in Feb ' 09 and was consulting Dr Geetha Balliappa at Wockhardt. I have PCOS and prescribed me Meformin & folic acid. went thru 5 months of follicular scan study without success. Recently started consulting Dr Madhuri Patil since wasnt satisfied with Dr Geetha. She asked me in her last consultation about the results of tests that she hadn' t even prescribed - FSH etc. That was the tipping point to chg doctors. She didnt have any specific plan in mind - it appeared like she was tossing a coin and suggesting medication every month. Consulted Dr Madhuri Patil few days back. She told me that metformin isnt given for all PCOS - some fructose test has to be done and only if that level is high shud metformin be used to treat PCOS. I was really surprised to hear that - maybe i have been taking wrong medication for last 5-6 months.. have stopped metformin for now.. that test can only be done afer 1 mth of stopping metformin. she is doing follicular scan now - follicles arent growing properly. she will do some tests on D21 & on D2 of next cycle.. said that not much chance of conceiving in this cycle.. Can anyone let me know their views on Dr. Madhuri Patil and their experiences with PCOS? Pre replied. Hi, even I have been treated by Dr.Madhuri Patil. My PCOS problem got somewhat solved by her treatment. But the problem is she pumps us with too many hormones, which can be dangerous after conception. Also, you should be ready to spend without batting an eyelid for her treatment. My questions were never answered to my satisfaction, I just got answer in monosyllables, and I always has to turn to the junior/trainee doctors. What she lacks in a humane approach towards the patient. More than posh interiors and paintings on the wall, we need some real attention, humane approach and compassion from the doctor. It is not as though they are doing some charity over there. We are human beings of blood and flesh, and they owe is an exlpaination at all stages of treatment. Despite of spending about two lacs and wasting my precious two years, I have a history of 3 miscarriages..no baby yet. So be quick in taking the correct decision. Do not stick to any doctor for a prolonged period if you see that nothing has changed for better. Good Luck! AA replied. Hi
I also have pcos consulting dr nirmala rao jp nagar..even she prescribed metformin n folic acid..its been more than 6 months i will also have a talk with doctor this month abt these tablets..i have done one iui -neg..now have cyst ..just wantto stop by drop a msg abt PCOS!good luck 2 u with ur new doctor! ambika replied. hi......no need to worry .just consult dr. leele bhagwan...in manipal jayanagar and cradle....all the best and be in touch
