Name: anie My hubby has very low count and motility i had 8 failediuis 1 failed ivf.The doc. suggested us for donor.My hubby is in favour of taking his elder brother as the donor(as he will be geneticaly related).I looks akward and unethical to me.Please give me ur views on it.

Hi, Dr. Hrishikesh Pai has introduted IMSI (Intracytoplasmic morphological sperm injection technique) in which the sperm is magnified 7200 times. This enables to select good sperm which can be injected into the egg. It has 50 - 60% success. No extra charges are taken for this technique. Even if few sperms are obtained, it can give good results. He is avalable at Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai and Fortis La femme hospital, Delhi.

I am not sure if you have already made the decision. Anyway unless you are old enough or have financial issues you don' t have to give up. I had a similar problem with motility and my wife had other complications, we went around hospitals for 4 yrs. More than 8 IUI attempts and 2 IVF. On third IVF (ICSI) attempt we got successful. If motility is the problem then you could go for ICSI where they directly inject the sperm. If you have already made up your mind about donor, go for anonymous donor otherwise there will be lot of emotional, legal and ethical headaches.

In my personal opinion it would not be a good idea at all. There are sperm banks at all good clinics, as you may know. Don' t worry about who' s going look like what in future..this genetically related concept doesn' t make sense.. Or may be the best option (although very tough) is to adopt a baby.
