What is the difference between Veggie pulao and veggie biryani? All the spices are almost same. What is the major difference. Thanks.

Hi,
For Pulav, the Rice is boiled seperately and then mixed with Vegetable and spices mixture. Where as for Biriyani - rice, vegetables, spices, little coconut milk/coconut paste(if necessary) are mixed and cooked together. Also, for Biriyani tomato is used for flavouring.

i dont agree with kk.

noone makes pulav by boiling rice seperately. in fact, pulav is made by adding raw rice to spices and veggies and then cooking it together.

whereas in biryani, rice is cooked seperately and mixed with spices and veggies.

the diff between pulav and biryani is that in birayni, u have to make layers of veggies/spices and rice alternately. and then it is baked. so when its done, u will have some portions of white rice in between and some colored portion(due to veggie and spices).
