I hv irregular periods.. actually its mostly a cycle of 40 days..n my doc did a follicular study , first scan on 11th then 13th n then 15th day post periods.n she told its an unovulated cycle, bt i hv a doubt that i ovulated on 19th or 20th day.. is it possible??? M jus guessin wid the discharge i usually get..nxt month after my periods doc v' ll put me on sum medication..plzz tell me is it possible wid irregular cycle tht thr is no folicular growth till 15th day.. bt still u can see some growth on 20th day???ws doc suppose to do some more scans??? anu replied. yes yr follicles wudnt grow sometimes even after 15th day or even 20th day but i wudnt be fertile !! i myself went thro same prob had to go thro couple of months with medcine and follicular studies to knw my oualtion day !! evn my doctor told me this cycle isnt ovulatory but i still went ahead n took up the follicular study n found out it was my 17th day my ovulation day !! thn my doctor prescribed along the cycle !!! never hav doubts clear them taking more follicular studies is no harm so go aheadwith yr inhibitions ramaya replied. u made a good decision to visit ur doc for clarifications
All the best and dont think much of conceiving, it will hapeen when it has to. best of luck ramaya replied. well, really dont know the meaning and usage of medicines you mentioned. However, I do know that contraceptive tablets are presecribed by doctor to regularize the periods and also to increase the ovarian reserve.This helps if you have poor or low egg quality. But, normally, its 21 tablets course and first one is taken on day 5 of period, ur bleeding will begun 3-4 days after u stop the pills after consuming 21 tabs ( one per day).
So, I believe that your doctor is preparing ur body to conceive for next cycle and not this cycle.
Howver, I stress again that you must ask these questions to ur doctor too as she is expert and knows her job for sure. Unless you ask them questions, they might not explain you. So, its our right to ask for clarifications if we have any doubts. You can visit her again even if u have to pay consultation fee again and better clear your doubts from expert.

when doctor starts monitoring ur focllicular growth, they see the follicles growing from intitial to ovulation and later few days before period to see if they have ruptured.
Even if u ovulated ( as per ur belief) on 20th day then doctor should have been able to see follciles growing from earlier days itself. So, i think ur doctor is right and you shouldnt hesitate in taking medication to make you ovulate. In any doubt, its always better to take second opinion from another doctor and do follicular monitoring under her supervision.
