Hi
Normally children have a fixed time for potty in a day. Either it is morning or evening or both. So you may make him sit every morning and accompany him for first few days. B´cause if he finishes it every morning before going to school, it will be helpful and there wont be any accident in school. Secondly you have to make him sit by telling some story or talking with him for first few days. Thirdly, let him come with you when you go to toilet, children learn easily and fast by observing. You may ask him every hour to go to toilet. Don´t use diapers. Let there be some accidents and if it happens , keep cool and tell him strongly but calmly to do this in toilet. Never shout or get angry for this. I hope these will help you. All the best.

Hi HBS
There are pull ups available thatyou can use for your boy.
This way he will be able to pull them down.

The rythm that needs to be set is as follows:
1. Train him to tell you when he wants to pee or poop. Then accompany him or ask him to go to potty.
Of if you watch him trying to go potty then you should immediately escort him to the bathroom.

2. Make sure that you get a small seat to be placed over the normal toilet and a stool. Using a separate potty may complicate things for him at school.

MAke sure seat and surronding areas are clean.
3. Ask him to wipe and flush and wash hands.
So the steps are a. Go potty, b. Wipe, C. Flush d. Wash hands.

4. Initially it may be a problem where in kids may laugh and giggle and not go potty, but then once it sets in all will be fine. Patience is the key.

There are lot of online cartoons like Elmo, barney etc that help in setting the potty training idea into kids. Try them too.
